Police have said that Mr. Harkins got into a car with Mr. Trotto the night of Feb. 15, 1994, outside of Suney’s Pub on Chandler Street. They have said they believe that is the same black 1985 Chevy Impala that Millbury police pulled over in the wee hours of Feb. 16, 1994, speeding north on Route 146.

That car was driven by Mr. Samia and Mr. Fredette was in the passenger seat. Police noted there was blood on the passenger and on the roof and passenger-side door of the car. Not knowing of Mr. Harkins’ disappearance or of Mr. Fredette’s criminal record, they let the car go without searching the glove compartment or trunk.

Subsequently, Mr. Samia told police that he had junked the car, and police were never able to locate it. However, in 2005 Fire Department divers searched Curtis Pond and located a passenger-side front car door, a car roof and other car parts, police said. State police have identified those car parts as belonging to the car that Millbury police stopped Feb. 16, 1994, according to Lt. O’Connor, one of the original investigators in the case.

Jury selection is scheduled to begin Thursday in Worcester Superior Court for the trial of Elias Samia, one of three men charged two years ago with the 1994 murder of Kevin Harkins...

Prosecutors contend he was lured out of Suney's that night and later shot to death while in a car with Mr. Samia and his two co-defendants, Matteo Trotto and John Fredette. The three were indicted on murder charges in the case in 2012.

Mr. Trotto, formerly of Worcester, and Mr. Fredette, of Saco, Maine, were convicted of first-degree murder in separate trials earlier this year. Both were sentenced to life imprisonment with no possibility of parole.

WORCESTER, Mass. — Testimony has begun the trial of a third man charged with killing a still-missing man because he refused to lie about a drug case.

Prosecutor Daniel Bennett said in his opening Monday that Elias Samia of Worcester was the one who shot 36-year-old Kevin Harkins in February 2014 as they sat in Samia's car with two other men.

John Fredette and Matteo Trotto were convicted of murder in the case earlier this year. Bennett said Harkins was shot the day after he failed to testify for Fredette.

The Telegram & Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1t6pJro ) Samia's lawyer Joan Fund said in her opening that prosecutors based their case on "innuendo" and "spin."

The first prosecution witness, Donald St. Pierre, testified Fredette told him he planned to kill Harkins if Harkins didn't give false testimony in Fredette's drug case.

Bumping for Kevin...it's now been nearly 27 years. Prayers for his body to be found and his family given the opportunity to lay their loved one to rest.

Victim of Worcester crash identified as daughter of murder victim Kevin Harkins

Officers responded to the Goldsberry St. crash at around 2 a.m. Sunday, Worcester police said. Three people were taken to the hospital, including Simone, who later passed away.

Sources confirmed to MassLive that Simone was the victim of the crash. She was 35

“Our family is heartbroken,” the page said. “Jessica was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, and a shining light to everyone who knew her. She touched the lives of so many and it is our turn to give back to her family in their time of need.”

The page said the money raised would cover funeral and memorial service costs, and that excess funds would be donated to the future care and education of Simone’s son.

A Worcester native and 2004 graduate of North High School, Simone worked 15 years as a hair stylist. She was studying to become a radiology technician at Quinsigamond Community College and was set to graduate in May of 2022, the said.

Simone is the daughter of Kevin Harkins, killed in 1994 for reneging on a deal to lie in a drug trafficking case, prosecutors said. The three men responsible for his death have all been found guilty.

“Jessica was a blessing to her whole family, especially her son,” the said. “She was a great mother who enjoyed doing anything and everything with him. Jessica was creative, feisty at times, loved reading, dancing and getting together with her large Italian family.”
