Bob Howe wrote a poem after losing his wife, and read it on radio to help raise the profile of a senior chairty.
'Social media users praised Mr Howe as "inspirational", with many admitting they were overwhelmed with emotion after listening.
The widower, a community champion for helpline The Silver Line, was appearing on the show following a report suggesting an increasing number of men were facing loneliness in later life.'
Her is Mr Howe's poem, and you can also hear him read it at the link.

I am alone, now I know its true
There was a time when we were two
Those were the days when we would chat
Doing little jobs of this and that
Wed go to the shops and select our meals
But now Im one I know how it feels
To try and cook or have meals on wheels
The rooms are empty theres not a sound
Sometimes Im lost and wander round
To look for jobs that I can do
To bring back the days when we were two
When darkness falls and curtains drawn
Thats when I feel most forlorn
But I must be honest and tell the truth
Im not quite alone and heres the proof
Because beside me in her chair
She quietly waits our time to share
Kath said to me some time ago
Darling when the time comes for us to go
Lets mix our ashes and be together
So we can snuggle up for ever and ever.
