OSBI investigating after 3 bodies found in Duncan home (okcfox.com)

The town of Duncan is in shock tonight after three people were found dead.

Nearby newspaper the Marlow Review is reporting the deaths are its publisher John Hruby, his wife Tinker and daughter Katherine.

Duncan Police Chief Danny Ford said, "About 8:50 today we received a 911 call saying that there were three bodies in a home in north Duncan."
---
While Fox 25 was at the scene, a car was being towed away. Neighbors say it belonged to the family's son who is a freshman at OU.

Duncan Police say right now they are not looking for anyone and have no one in custody.

The Hrubys own The Marlow Review and the Comanche County Chronicle, in Elgin, according The Oklahoma Press Association. On Monday, The Marlow Review posted this message to its readers: “At this time, The Marlow Review asks the general public for prayers following the tragic deaths of John Hruby, our publisher, his wife Tinker, and their daughter Katherine. Our staff endeavors to continue to serve Marlow to the best of our ability going forward. Thank you.”

For some reason the Ewell case from California popped into my mind when I read this.
Hope they have some leads.

Law enforcement officials gather evidence at Duncan home where three died (Stillwater News Press)

---
A half-dozen police officers in uniform and plainclothes moved in and out of the Hruby house throughout the afternoon.
---
At one point, a detective and a police officer examined a surveillance camera mounted on the west corner of the two-story brick home.

Later, a uniformed Duncan officer was seen carrying out what appeared to be a DVR.

Later Monday afternoon, the police tape that cordoned off the front yard of the Hruby house as well as the street was extended to encompass a Jeep that neighbors said belongs to the Hruby’s son.

Deaths of Marlow newspaper publisher, family stun community (newsok.com)

---
Duncan has been rocked by horrific killings in recent years.

There was the June 6, 2012, slaying of Velma teenager Braylee Rae Henry, who had inspired others through her volunteer service at the Jesus House homeless shelter in Oklahoma City.

Then there was the thrill killing of Australian baseball player Christopher Lane, 22, who was shot in the back while jogging in Duncan on Aug. 16, 2013. His death attracted widespread attention throughout the United States and in Australia.

“This may rock the community more than the Mr. Lane’s matter, or equally the same,” Duncan attorney Jeff Archer said.

“It’s pretty devastating. It’s terrible. It’s unfathomable.”

Deaths of Hruby, wife and daughter stun Duncan and Marlow; Hruby son jailed on ‘unrelated charge,’ police say

---
The couple’s son, Alan, a freshman at the University of Oklahoma, was held overnight at the Stephens County Jail on an “unrelated charge” related to stolen checks, said Duncan Detective Danny Foraker.

No arrests have been made and police would not characterize the nature of three family members' deaths.

Police are aware the Hruby couple departed from their usual pattern of behavior beginning on Friday, when they didn’t show up for work at the newspaper and John Hruby didn’t cover the Marlow High School football game.

According to Tinker Hruby's own twitter she was a Crime reporter for The Marlow Review in Oklahoma!

I wonder if someone she was investigating/writing about in the newspaper, could have committed the crime?

Please remember that unless a family member is arrested for this crime discussions regarding them being a suspect are not permitted. You can discuss whatever charges he has been charged with to date and what is released through MSM or LE, but that is as far as you can go.

Thanks, Lambchop

In 2013, Alan Hruby, 19, was charged in Stephens County with a felony for fraudulent purchases on his grandmother’s credit card.

He is participating in a delayed sentencing program.

Court records show Alan Hruby obtained a credit card in his grandmother’s name and charged nearly $5,000 on the card in Europe. His father called police in August 2013 to report the unauthorized charges.

Alan Hruby pleaded guilty in January and was placed on a delayed sentencing program for youthful offenders. The court ordered him to pay restitution, undergo a substance abuse evaluation, attend drug and alcohol counseling and complete a cognitive behavior program.

UPDATE: Son of slain Duncan couple is in custody on unrelated case (Daily Oklahoman)

Daily Mail has it:

Son of family found dead in their Oklahoma home being held in jail - but on an 'unrelated charge' according to police

• John Hruby, his wife Katherine and their teenage daughter Katherine were found dead in their home on Monday morning
• The family, who live in Duncan, Oklahoma, had not been seen since Friday and police are treating their deaths as a homicide
• Their son, Alan, is currently being held in jail, but on an 'unrelated charge' according to police

---
Alan, 19, previously ran afoul of the law earlier this year when he pleaded guilty to a charge of credit card theft.

The credit card he stole belonged to his grandmother, Janice Hruby, according to a family friend.

He was entered into a delayed sentencing program and was due to appear in court this November, owing $491.15 in fines and court costs.

Does anyone else find it at all odd that no info on WHAT unrelated charges he is in custody on?

IME when LE go to the trouble of telling you they have someone in custody on unrelated charges they specify what those unrelated charges are.

Also in article linked by wfgodot:

Alan Hruby pleaded guilty on Jan. 2 to a charge of credit card theft. The case arose from his use a credit card from his grandmother, Janice Hruby, according to The Duncan Banner.

Court records show that in 2013 Alan Hruby obtained a credit card in his grandmother’s name and charged nearly $5,000 on the card in Europe. His father called police to report the unauthorized charges. John Hruby told police he had given his son an airline voucher to use and Alan Hruby had traveled to Europe in June 2013.

And son told of murders :

At the station, Ford said Alan Hruby was hyperventilating, crying and wailing. Hruby spent time with a chaplain and Ford said it took Hruby quite some time to calm down.

The articles I've read say the charges are related to stolen checks.

Lawton Constitution:

Statewide records show the 19-year-old son of Tinker and John Hruby, two of three victims found dead inside their Duncan yesterday, was detained sometime in the last 36 hours and is being held at the Stephens County Jail. The district attorney's office says "no charges have been filed" against him at this time, but nobody from the jail or DA's office will provide the charge for which he was booked into the facility. Court records show he was currently participating in a delayed sentencing program due to a 2013 stolen credit card case, but there were no outstanding warrants on file pertaining to the charge. Jail officials say they are waiting for the DA's office to approve our Freedom of Information Act request, and we'll bring more information as it surfaces.

Okay. It would appear that the son pleaded guilty to running up charges on his grandmother's credit card during a European vacation paid for -- at least travel-wise -- by his parents last year. Significantly, perhaps, the family decided to let the process of justice and retribution take place in the courts rather than behind closed doors. Perhaps he was "taught a lesson."

Still, running up $5k on grandma's credit card cannot really be said necessarily to be a reliable predictor of, say, triple homicide involving parents and sibling.
