Remains found near river likely belonged to missing woman
The search for a missing woman appears to be over. The Webster County Sheriff’s Department says human remains found near Rader, in northeastern Webster County, likely belonged to Sarah Jo Carter.

No one has reported seeing Carter, who was 33, since several weeks ago, when she was in the Niangua/Rader area. The sheriff’s department put out a missing person report on her recently.

Last week, someone found Carter’s purse, driver’s license and other personal belongings at a building in the Rader area. On Sunday, human remains believed to belong to Carter were found not far from where her belongings were found.

Investigators found no obvious signs of foul play. The body may have been there for six to eight weeks.
