NY - John Casalaspro, 25, Staten Island, 9 October 2014

John Casalaspro, who works as an assistant to a plumber, was last seen midnight, sitting on a rock behind the Con Edison parking lot by Richmond Terrace and Bard Avenue in Livingston, according to an NYPD spokeswoman, who confirmed his disappearance was being treated as an active missing person case.

Police said he was with friends before he walked off.

He was reported missing on Friday when he didn't show up for work.

"It's out of character," said his aunt, Gina Gutzeit, a resident of Grasmere. "He didn't go to work on Friday. He didn't pick up his paycheck. He doesn't have his phone with him"...

"His brother and sister are just beside themselves, " said Ms. Gutzeit. "They've been searching."

He's described as being 5'5", 130 pounds, with black hair and hazel eyes.

There seems to be a LOT of information that's been left out of what happened the night he went missing. We've seen this time and time again, where a friend goes missing and their friends scatter and refuse to help because they were all up to criminal behavior.

I don't know this, but I strongly sense this in this case. The friends have given few details because they don't want to be charged with crimes that are not directly related to what happened to him, whatever that was. IMHO.

This is local for me, I hope they get answers soon, if they were doing something wrong I hope that they speak up, cops should tell them they don't care about anything but finding John.

I don't think cops ever do that. It seems very often witnesses are reported to have been "arrested on an unrelated warrant" during investigations. Witnesses know if they come forward to help they get the spotlight shined on them and if they have anything going on at the time end up in jail.

I may be wrong, they may have been doing nothing questionable, but I just don't sense that.

There is no new information in the strange disappearance of John Casalaspro, an Annadale resident who went missing after hanging out with his friends in the early morning hours on Friday, Oct. 10.

Casalaspro was last seen around 1 a.m. Friday, hanging out with friends by the water near the intersection of Richmond Terrace and Bard Avenue in Livingston, according to an NYPD spokeswoman.

A water search for John Casalaspro turned up no results Thursday evening after family members of the missing 25-year-old West Brighton resident notified police of a possible body floating in the waters off Richmond Terrace.

The family of a missing Staten Island man is planning a vigil Friday night at the spot where he was last seen...

Casalaspro’s family has many questions for the friends he was with.

“Something is not being said, I don’t know, it’s just, they have to know something,” Jennifer Casalaspro told WCBS 880’s Jim Smith.

Are there cameras in the ConEd lot?????? Maybe the cameras caught something-----and what about a security guard/patrol in the lot??????
The greatest trick the Devil ever played was convincing the world he didn't exist.

Three candles that illume every darkness: truth, nature, knowledge.

"There, isn't this a beautiful piece of cloth!", exclaimed the swindlers, as they described the lovely design that didn't exist.

I think it's VERY highly likely to be him. From the way it looks to me, it's about a mile and a half down river from where he was last seen.

I can't imagine why this is taking so long to rule him in or rule him out. Apparently when he went missing, based on what the cousin was saying, he had a very distinctive brightly colored shirt on.

It just seems they could say "presumed to be", or "consistent with the description of", or not.
