VA - Avarice Williams, 9 mos, left alone 16 hrs, found dead in crib, 5 Oct 2014

Parents of 9-month-old Avarice Alexander of Prince William County, VA, said their baby had died of SIDS and immediately created a fundraising page. Thursday, court records show both parents were charged with neglect; leaving baby Avarice alone for 16 hours while they were drinking.

Both parents are 21 years old.

Adam and Jasmyne Alexander left their baby in her crib from 8:30 p.m. until 12:30 p.m. the next day, police say. Both parents are 21 years old.

I wanna know who selected the name "Greed" for this baby!!!

I agree with a poster on a thread about a troubled teen named Trance, names are important.

    Rest in peace, little one.

A few hours later, Jasmyne Alexander posted online asking for money to help bury her child, according to WJLA.
Police said the parents had not taken Avarice to a doctor for the past seven months, even after noticing Avarice had problems breathing.
Jasmyne and Adam Alexander have been charged with felony child neglect. If convicted they could face 10 years in prison.

I try and be understanding about the names and spellings people choose for their babies, but this one did make me blink. It's just not very nice.

    December 2015:

The parents, both 21, had not taken Avarice to a doctor for seven months, even when they noticed she was having difficulty breathing four weeks before her death, investigators said. Instead, the parents first called for help when they found the girl unresponsive in her crib. She also was pronounced dead at home, on the 10200 block of Aqua View Court in Nokesville.

The Alexanders were charged with felony child neglect four days after their daughter’s death. In September, prosecutors indicted them on a count of manslaughter by negligence.

Court records show that Jasmyne Alexander was eventually tried on the less serious charge of child neglect and found not guilty this month. Adam Alexander is scheduled to go to trial on the charges of involuntary manslaughter and child neglect Jan. 26.

Police say that the baby was put to sleep on her stomach Saturday night. Later Jasmyne got home from work and the parents drank that night and went to sleep.

They t hen didn't check on their child until the next day.

Emergency responders pronounced the child dead on site at about 1pm Sunday...

Hours after the child died a GoFundMe page was set up to collect funds in Avarice's name.

The parents weren't drinking for 16 hours. Dad put baby to bed around 8 , mom got home from work around midnight. She went to bed around 3 am. Please don't make it seem like they were stumbling around drinking for 16 hours straight. That's why I dislike mainstream media. They go for the shock emotion.

It says she was left alone in the crib for 16 hours... From 8pm until noon... So they put her to bed, went out drinking apparently leaving her alone, then came home and passed out without checking on her.

Why are these parents being defended? Because ignoring their baby for 16 partially drunk hours is better than ignoring your baby for 16 hours totally drunk? Their baby died, FFS. The baby they named after a deadly sin and ignored for 16 hours died. Kind of a big deal.

    October 2016:

Nokesville man not guilty of child neglect

    http://www.insidenova.com/headlines/...d9462d856.html

A Prince William Circuit Court jury this week found a Nokesville man not guilty of felony child neglect charges.

Adam Jerell Vince Alexander was arrested in October 2014 and charged in connection with the death of his 9-month-old daughter, Avarice, Prince William County police said at the time.

A grand jury later directly indicted Adam Alexander for involuntary manslaughter.

At a jury trial this week, Prince William Circuit Court Judge Tracy Hudson dismissed the involuntary manslaughter charge “for insufficient evidence,” Alexander’s attorneys, Pia Miller and Scott Newton said.

After deliberating for a little more than two and a half hours on Oct. 12, the jury found Alexander not guilty of felony child neglect, according to court records.

So both found not guilty! Maybe the prosecution couldn't prove that not being taken to a doctor and being left alone for 16 hours contributed to the baby's death.
