"Three of the men are reported to have got into a northbound taxi on University Ave.

Det. Paul Rinkoff said the teenager had been in a coma for “about a month” and was transferred to a rehabilitation centre two weeks ago.

“He’s been admitted to a rehab centre, but he’s still not able to communicate,” said Det. Rinkoff. “It’s unclear what his future prognosis will be.”

What a brazen attack on a summer weekend right in the heart of downtown. There had to be tons of people around. Sickening.

What a brazen attack on a summer weekend right in the heart of downtown. There had to be tons of people around. Sickening.

there seemed to be a fair bit of traffic...........really sick & twisted attack and I am a bit more than surprised that no one saw anything ......

August 3rd would have been Caribana weekend in Toronto... thousands of tourists come for this annual event, these cowards who did this could have been tourists...

This poor boy, 17 years old, my heart aches for him...

Tourists don't usually have time to get so comfortable with the streets that they can buzz around, commit a terrible crime and disappear. They could be visitors, but I betcha they are locals.

You could be correct, however the "tourists" ( I use that word loosely) that come to Caribana could be a car full of young punks from just south of the border, or just outside of Toronto - who have come here with barley enough cash to get buy, they wanna party and be a bad *advertiser censored*...
All I am suggesting is that with this terrible crime happening on THAT weekend, it can be assumed that these cowards may not be from Toronto.

that is all.

"Toronto police still searching for suspects in beating that left teen in coma
One year later, police still search of suspects in a beating that took place in downtown Toronto in the early hours of Aug. 3, 2014"
.

"The teenage victim of a vicious beating in downtown Toronto last year will likely never have the same quality of life again, Toronto police Det. Sgt. Paul Rinkoff said in a press conference Friday.

Police are still searching for six suspects after an assult on 17-year-old boy near York. St. and Queen St. W. early on August 3, 2014, left him with severe head injuries that put him in a coma for nearly a month.

The victim has undergone several life-saving surgeries and his condition has improved, but his quality of life will never be the same, Rinkoff said. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and is under constant medical supervision.

“The youth’s family has undergone a traumatic and emotional year and know that their child will likely never be the same or function at the same level. But they remain hopeful,” Rinkoff said".
