ouch..........Rock & Roll lives but we are losing our rockers....

RIP

Awwww.... I'm so sad.:whine:

Jack's contributions to music, from John Mayall's Bluesbreakers to Manfred Mann (anybody remember them?), West, Bruce and Laing and so many others - and Cream of course - really were legendary. He played with Frank Zappa, Lou Reed, John McLaughlin - the list just goes on and on.

I can still hear those awesome bass riffs in I Feel Free and White Room (which I believe Jack co-wrote).

Think I'll go have a listen to Wheels of Fire.

RIP Jack, we'll miss you! :candle:

Not to date myself :blushing: but I remember seeing Cream at Detroit's Grande Ballroom in the summer of 1968. You had to be 16 to get in and I was shy by a few years so I borrowed a friend's ID. Our local darlings - the MC5 - was one of the opening acts. I still have the poster. And yes, it was a memorable night! Psychedelia!

Cream vocalist and bassist Jack Bruce has died of liver failure aged 71. He:

'..was part Mississippi Delta and part Carnaby Street. In his glorious heyday as bassist and lead vocalist of 1960s power trio Cream he helped create a sound that combined American blues and psychedelia to thrill audiences throughout the world.

...(he) enjoyed a long, respected solo career after the band's acrimonious breakup, but will be best remembered for his stint with Cream and for classics like "Sunshine of Your Love" and "I Feel Free."

Much of the attention was focused on guitar wizard Eric Clapton, but Bruce wrote many of the band's signature tunes and served as lead vocalist.'
