NC - Two shot outside Nash County Courthouse, schools on lockdown

There has been shooting outside Nash County Courthouse and the suspect is still at large. Schools are in lockdown and there is a lot of police activity. Don't know much more at the moment. Will be back.

'One man was shot in his hand and leg and ran inside the courthouse, where he collapsed near the metal detectors, Jenkins said. The second man ran around to the north side of the building and was shot in the back, the sheriff said.
The wounds weren't life-threatening, he said, but the identities and conditions of the victims weren't known Tuesday afternoon.'

Police are seeking two suspects. Do any locals know what cases were being heard in the courthouse today? I think it may be relevant.

Police are searching for two suspects in a white car.

'The incident happened outside the Nash County Courthouse in Nashville, about 40 miles east of Raleigh. The two victims suffered non-life-threatening wounds, Sheriff Dick Jenkins told the station.

Many offices and schools near the courthouse also reportedly remain locked down Tuesday afternoon as the manhunt continued. Officials were searching for two gunmen and a white car, Jenkins told the station.'

A suspected gunman is in custody as police search for a second suspect after the shooting of two men outside a rural North Carolina courthouse Tuesday, authorities said.

Ontarious Montre Lewis, 23, will be charged with attempted murder after gunfire broke out sometime before noon in front of the Nash County Courthouse, about 45 miles northeast of Raleigh in the agricultural town of Nashville, according to reports.

The Nash County Sheriff's Office says Donte'a Evans has been released from the Vidant Medical Center, while a second victim, Lamar Ricks, remains in the hospital in stable condition...

Two brothers, Demond Levar Morris, 36, and Brandon Tremaine Morris, 31, of Rocky Mount are charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill in connection with the shooting.

Courthouse videotapes helped officers to identify Demond Morris, and he was arrested late Wednesday after a two-day manhunt by several law enforcement agencies. Morris was taken into custody upon a vehicle stop by Nash County investigators, the U.S. Marshals’ task force and the Raleigh Police Department, in Raleigh. Morris was unarmed, Nash County Sheriff Dick Jenkins said.

A search warrant was issued for the vehicle Morris was driving, a 2005 green Ford F-150 truck. The truck is registered to the mother of Morris’ child, and was towed to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office Warehouse. Inside, officers found marijuana, paperwork from Morris’ attorney, several pairs of clothing, Google maps and two Hilton honors door cards.

A search warrant was also issued for Morris’ cell phone, which officers believe was used in the commission of the crime.
