While looking up some other information I came across this article: http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20110112/ARTICLE/101121051 (the skull is being discussed here: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...ull-from-1974-in-box-at-police-station-Jan-11). In the article from 2011 it states:

Local police say records regarding the skull were long ago destroyed. Detectives have been sifting through old newspaper clippings about disappearances to get started. They found several possible scenarios, including: Wendy and Kenny Wilson, 12 and 14 years old, who left for school one day in 1974 and vanished; Donna Jean Massey, an epileptic teenager who never returned from a camping trip in Riverview and a Wisconsin man who was last seen fishing on the Manatee River.

I cannot find an iota of any further information on Wendy and Kenny Wilson and do not see them listed as missing anywhere. Does anyone know anything else about them?

Donna Jean Massey I found a few old news articles on but I can't find her listed as missing anywhere:

I had never heard of this case. Thanks for posting this.

Hmmm so Donna Jean Massey just met this girl and her family that day, says she's going to spend the night with the girl and leaves at 7 pm??? Then the family just packs up and leaves??? Yeah that sounds suspicious. I wonder if she could have gone with this family.

Why would Donna Jean Massey send a letter to the owner of the campsite and not to her parents' house? Did she ever return home?

Interesting bit of info in this article re: Donna Jean Massey. Heinrich was the chief of criminal investigations here in Hillsborough county.

St. Petersburg Times July 20, 1974

Search for missing girl called off.

The girlfriend, Shelly Pendergast, also 13, and her father, Tom Pendergast, a carnival worker, were camping nearby in a bus that had been converted into a camper.

Heinrich said Pendergast told the Masseys that their daughter left his campsite about 7 a.m. Saturday.

Heinrich said Pendergast left the campsite sometime Monday night although the camp operator reported that Pendergast had paid his rent through July 24.

Heinrich said deputies also are searching for the Pendergast family. Their camper has California license plates.

------
Ruskin is not far from Gibsonton which has a lot of carnival worker history. I wonder if Tom Pendergast traveled here regularly?

Okay.... Nevermind. I just came across an engagement announcement from 1984.

http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=PW4sAAAAIBAJ&sjid=4c4EAAAAIBAJ&pg=6083,4446614

Donna Jean Massey... Daughter of Mrs. Freeman Massey of Tampa and James Donald Massey of Greer engaged to Robert Bryant Hunt.

Looks like she returned home at some point. The engagement announcement says she graduated from Robinson High School here in Tampa.

You would think the police wouldnt have been comparing her to bones found in 2007 then? Gotta love it. I wonder if the Wilson siblings were found safe as well.

I can’t find anything on Wendy Wilson or Kenny Wilson. Maybe someone with an Ancestry subscription can look them up?
