Comments after zwiebel's article are interesting. Whomever killed the couple had to know they were in the home. 2 cars are in the driveway in the taped off crime scene on that video.

On this video they talk about the fact that there is an apartment complex behind the home. A woman who lives there heard a commotion at 3:30 AM. At first she thought it was the garbage pickup but when they came later she knew the noise was something different. LE has taped off 2 blocks around crime scene.

You know, if people just got up once in awhile and looked at where noises are coming from, maybe more clues would be available.

    Or am I just nosy?

The two found dead, Jerry and Helen Ephrem, both 65, were married...

The couple had lived in the home for about 30 years, neighbors said. They described Jerry Ephrem as very sociable, happy-go-lucky and friendly, but rarely saw his wife.

The couple, neighbors said, are part of a very large Roma family and often had family gatherings at the house that drew many people.

While I agree the sound of voices and what the neighbor believes were several shots being fired doesn't coincide with a garbage truck, going outside may have been dangerous and even if this person called 911 chances are the suspect(s) would have already been gone by the time LE arrived. However, I am curious what leads LE to believe the suspect(s) have no connection to the family and if the home appeared to be ransacked, as in a robbery.

Jerry Ephrem, 65, died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head, and Helen Ephrem, 65, died of multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, according to Dr. Clifford Nelson of the state medical examiner's office.

Nelson said that Helen Ephrem was shot in the back and the bullets traveled to her chest, according to the autopsy.

No arrests have been made in the double homicide.

Police still hope for tips in 2014 Hazelwood murder

Portland police can’t say how they were murdered or what weapons, if any, were used, but the medical examiner said they died of homicidal violence.

“Pieces of the investigation are still protected so that we have a better chance of identifying and prosecuting the people or person responsible for this horrible act,” Sgt. Chris Burley said.
Jerry and Helen Ephrem Double Homicide Remains Unsolved

The Portland Police Bureau, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to solve a double homicide that occurred in Northeast Portland's Hazelwood Neighborhood.

Crime Stoppers of Oregon offers cash rewards for information, reported to Crime Stoppers, that leads to an arrest in any unsolved felony crime and tipsters can remain anonymous.

Information about any unsolved homicide is eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,500.
