While serving a 30-year prison sentence for two fatal shootings in 2003, Wali Williams conviction was overturned due to an illegal police search and he was released from prison in May 2013.
But on March 3, 2014, Williams is accused of fatally shooting 21-year-old Newark resident Anthony Flowers on Avon Avenue in the city, authorities said. Another man was shot in the incident, but survived his injuries, authorities said. Williams remains in the Essex County jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
Also charged in the fatal shooting is 29-year-old Irvington resident Laquan Dwight, who was one of Williams co-defendants in the 2003 double murder.
