Multiple agencies are searching for the remains of a bounty hunter reported missing 12 years ago in McClain County, Wednesday morning. (Multiple agencies) are combing an area near Blanchard, Oklahoma, searching for the remains of 37-year-old Troy Neidhart.

In September 2002, the Oklahoma City Police Department received a report that Neidhart was missing. Neidhart was a local bounty hunter. As detectives worked the case, they gathered information that Neidhart may have been murdered. On March 15, 2004, skeletal remains were found in McClain County. The sheriff's office requested OSBI investigative assistance. During the scene investigation, less than half the remains were located. However, the medical examiner's office did determine the person died of gunshot wounds to the back and head. In 2006, the medical examiner's office identified the remains found in McClain County to be Neidhart's.

Investigators believe they have some convincing information they hope will lead them to the rest of the body and possible suspects.

Investigators say will be in a heavily wooded area through Friday. They say they will be digging through the dirt, using metal detectors, even getting on their hands and knees, searching for any evidence leading to the disappearance of Troy Neidhart...

Finding more remains could lead investigators to a motive, a murder weapon or even a killer.

“To my understanding, there was a shallow grave that was dug and a light layer of dirt was over him. He was stripped naked and all of his ID was taken and he was left there.”

Troy Neidhart was 37 at the time of his disappearance. He had three daughters enrolled at Washington Schools. He was living alone in a friend’s extra house rent-free in exchange for doing bond work. Troy was temporarily separated from his wife.

An arrest has been made in a McClain County cold case about 10 years after human remains were found in a rural area of the county, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation reported.

OSBI agents arrested Bobby Barnhill, 45, Tuesday night on a murder complaint after questioning him in McAlester about his involvement in the death of Troy Neidhart. Other arrests in the case are possible, the OSBI reported...

Barnhill and Neidhart were acquaintances but OSBI has not reported a possible motive.

Before being shot to death 12 years ago, Oklahoma City bounty hunter Troy Neidhart helped dig his own grave, an affidavit in the cold case reveals.

Murder suspect Bobby Barnhill confessed Tuesday to a role in the fatal shooting in rural McClain County, an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation special agent reported in the affidavit...

A second suspect, Michael Hamilton, 46, is being held in the Oklahoma County jail on a car theft charge, records show. Both men worked for Neidhart in his bounty hunting business, which involved tracking down fugitives.
