Stuttgart parents seek help locating missing daughter

Cassie Compton, 15, has been missing since Sunday, September, 14 and still no amber alert has been sent out from police.

Cassie's mother Judy says her daughter was like any other 15-year-old girl; she likes bowling with her friends, going to the movies, and Facebook.

Judy said last Sunday night, Cassie came home from the derby in Dewitt with her friend Hunter around 6:00 p.m. She was home for a short amount of time before she walked out the door while Judy and her fiancé Brandon Rhodes weren't in the room.

"It's been 18 days," says Tracy Snyder.

Snyder is devastated 15-year-old Cassie Compton has been missing for more than 2 weeks.

"Heartbreaking, sadness," she says.

Police say Compton went missing right outside her Stuttgart home. Cassie's parents say she would often grab her phone and go for a walk down the road that is on the corner of her block. But that night was different, she grabbed her phone, left her charger, and hasn't been seen since.

"Now we're working with the FBI and State Police," says Stuttgart Assistant Chief Steven Bobo.

Local police called in other agencies to aid in the search.

While wiping fresh tears from an television interview Judy Compton sat down to speak about her daughter once again. “I miss her … I love my baby girl,” the words tumbled out to no one in particular, just outspoken thoughts.

Her 15-year-old daughter, Cassie Compton, has been missing for over a month after leaving her home in Stuttgart. There have been numerous sightings reported, a public search of vast rural areas and numerous prayers sent up since. But nothing has led them to the teen after she went missing on Sept. 13.

“Her phone is all she took,” her mother said when asked to describe that day. “She left her purse, overnight bag and her (phone) charger in her purse.”

Missing Stuttgart Teen's Mother Speaks

When Judy Compton woke up around 8 p.m., her daughter was gone. That was a month ago. On Monday, the mother of the missing Stuttgart teenager sat down with FOX 16 reporter Leah Uko in hopes someone would find her daughter.

Compton thanked everyone in the Stuttgart community for helping search for Cassie Compton, but said she wanted to be apart of it. She said, other than police, no one had kept her in the loop with how large the search effort had grown.

She said she felt helpless. On September 14th, Compton said she was sick and sleeping in her bedroom when she heard Cassie leave their home. Compton thought Cassie was coming back and realized a couple of hours later she didn't.

"It's tearing my heart out," Compton said through her tears. "Her being out there and God knows where."

Cassie Compton's mother opens up about past

The mother of missing Stuttgart teenager, Cassie Compton, says she was just removed from a sex offender list and her 15-year-old daughter has a mental illness.

Cassie went missing on September 14. She came back from an outing with a friend in DeWitt, she spoke briefly with her mother Judy and her mom's now ex-fiancé Brandon Rhodes, then walked out the door and vanished.

Judy sat down with Channel 7 News on three different occasions; Friday was the first time she sat down without Brandon Rhodes.

“I believe she would come back if she knew he was not in the picture,” Judy said.

Judy says Brandon was controlling. He was the first to pick up her phone when it would ring and he interrupted her conversations with authorities.

“There was one time I just turned to him and said ‘can I finish,” said Judy as she grew frustrated talking about him.

I am still reviewing TV interviews looking for cigarette brand reference. I have not yet found a direct quote of the text Cassie sent. It has all been paraphrased multiple ways as reporters are re-telling the story. Some are paraphrasing "pack of" cigarettes, some are not. I am also watching for verbage "get" versus "buy." KTHV even uses "find" as the verb. "To buy" means she would have left with money for a purchase, but "to get" implies she might have had another source than a store.

I am noticing BR wearing a (wedding) ring in the KATV porch interview with Judy before their breakup.

Everything to date, with reports reporting on other reports respectfully omitted.

JC says she was just removed from a sex offender list and [had] told police Cassie is possibly bipolar.

Video - JC teary quotes, Jordan paraphrasing that JC said Cassie was prescribed medication she didn’t like taking.

JC "If her mood swings were bad, she would sometimes go out for a walk,”

Her ex-husband assaulted her oldest daughter and she was charged with failure to protect her child. Judy said after she was forced into a plea deal, a probation officer told her she needed to register as a sex offender.

Article:

She came back from an outing with a friend in DeWitt, she spoke briefly with her mother Judy and her mom's now ex-fiancé Brandon Rhodes, then walked out the door and vanished.

Judy sat down with Channel 7 News on three different occasions; Friday (Nov 7) was the first time she sat down without Brandon Rhodes (first time she let them inside house).

JC “I believe she would come back if she knew he was not in the picture"

Judy says Brandon was controlling. He was the first to pick up her phone when it would ring and he interrupted her conversations with authorities.

Detective Lt Mark Duke of the Stuttgart Police Department said Judy and Brandon are still considered suspects. Duke said he follows up on a couple of leads a day.

Bobo reported as saying this is the hardest case he has ever worked.

2:05 JB states he asked SPD if “knowing what the know now, would they have pushed for an Amber Alert or done anything differently”and SPD replied “they don’t know if they could.

Article Repeats that she was last seen at her home

"Bobo said no one has been ruled out as a suspect, even Judy's former fiancé, Brandon Rhodes. Stuttgart Police have Rhodes in custody [for] criminal trespassing.

With the help of her attorney, Judy reached out to Rhodes by letter.

JC “I told him not to call me, not to come near me, or not to come on my property or anything"

“Her phone is all she took,” her mother, Judy Compton, said recently when asked to describe that day. “She left her purse, overnight bag and her (phone) charger in her purse.”

Compton had just come home after staying the night with friends over the weekend. Nothing unusual, her mother said. She remembers saying, “Hi, baby girl,” as she affectionately called her, but she had been sick and in her bedroom. Judy Compton said she never heard the door open when she left

Judy Compton of Stuttgart thinks it would help. Her daughter, Cassie Compton walked away from their home with her cel phone, but never came back. She was reported missing to the Stuttgart Police Department on Sept. 14, 2014.

"If it would've been an Amber Alert, it would have been more people looking for her right away," she told KARK 4 News reporter, Leah Uko. "Her picture would have been out there sooner than it was.
