MAGNOLIA SPRINGS, Ala. (WALA) – Today during a press conference, Baldwin County Sheriff Huey “Hoss” Mack said dive crews have found the head and other arm in Nolte creek and weeks creek this morning. He says, they have found all body parts except a foot. The remains are related to other body parts that have been found since Sunday, November 9, in Magnolia Springs.

Sheriff Huey “Hoss” Mack said they are in the midst of investigating a homicide the likes of which haven’t been seen in Baldwin County, according to investigators.

“We believe this individual was a white male, age 60-plus, with a weight of about 150 pounds and a height of around 73 inches (6-foot-1)...

It has also been determined that the individual had upper and lower dentures, had light colored to white thinning hair, light facial hair on his chin, possibly a thin beard, and had a mole on his right temple.

The individual was also found to have a pacemaker, Mack said, which could be traced using its serial number. Several other items that could have belonged to the individual have been recovered, Mack said. “We are still in the process of determining if those items will be helpful to the investigation,” he said.

Mack also said he has no reason to believe there were any other victims aside from the elderly man.

He also doubts that the crime was committed in Baldwin County.

"At this point in time, we are operating on the theory that this individual died in another location and ... these two sites are treated as dump sites," Mack said. "

Terry Perkins?

Age (60) lines up
Race (Caucasian)
Height (6'0) is within an inch
Weight (150 - 175 lbs) is within range
Hair description (gray, balding) matches
Distance (184 mi) is long but doable due to the 5-day gap
Has some facial hair (you can see it in the picture of him in the article, although I don't think it's significant because we don't know when the picture was taken)

No pacemaker or dentures mentioned, though. Although the article does mention he has several ''medical conditions'', it doesn't specify.

ETA: Perkins has a history of walking away from home and it's likely he did wander off. However, the article also mentions he's attempted to hitchhike in the past, which makes the 184-mile distance more reasonable.

Thank you so much for posting this.

LE may be releasing a photo of him soon, he is to have a large mole on his face. Some cases really upset me, guess the one's close by. I couldn't sleep last night knowing they were out searching for the rest of his remains. Who does this? It's so upsetting. May he RIP.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s office is responded to the home on Russet Court in Foley regarding the human remains found in Magnolia Springs around 3 p.m. on Tuesday. FOX10 News is on the scene and will have more as it becomes available. Russet Court is a cul-de-sac near Pine Rest Cemetery.

“Why we’re here today is we’ve just begun executing a search warrant on the residence,” Mack said.

They do have a tentative ID on the remains.

Mack has confirmed the human remains found in Magnolia Springs were those of 87-year-old Kenneth Bryan Hood. He also said authorities are still searching for Hood’s wife and stepson. Public records indicate his wife’s name is Carolyn Joyce Hood. According to online records William Alvin Minton lives at the same address. Neighbors say Minton is Hood’s stepson. Minton is a registered sex offender.

UPDATE: 6:55pm Tuesday Nov. 11, 2014

Baldwin County Sheriff Hoss Mack says Kenneth Hood's wife and stepson have been found and they are safe in Millbrook, Alabama.Mack says they are in the process of being interviewed. It is unclear why Hood's family members were in central Alabama instead of at their home in Foley.
Meanwhile, investigators continue to search for William Alvin Minton, the person of interest in this case. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police immediately.

So William Alvin is not the stepson that was found safe with mom? Just making sure I understand that there are TWO stepsons...

Only one stepson mentioned here:

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office identified 55-year-old William Alvin Minton as a person of interest in the death of his stepfather, 87-year-old Kenneth Hood. BCSO officials contacted Millbrook police Tuesday, November 11 saying Minton may be in the area. Millbrook officials located Minton at a home in the 5200 block of Pecan Drive and took him into custody without incident. The victim’s wife, Carolyn Hood, was considered missing but was found unharmed in the home.

I have found arrest records for the suspect in several states. He moved to AL from GA. I would like to know when he was in GA. Mr. Hood's cause of death is the same as Shirley Dermond's (Eaton, GA), she was dumped in the river, and her husband was beheaded.

William Alvin Minton, 55, is charged with murder and corpse abuse in the killing of Kenneth Bryan Hood of Foley, said Baldwin County Sheriff Huey Mack.

District Attorney Hallie Dixon said the charge could be upgraded to a capital offense punishable by a potential death penalty, depending on the evidence turned up by investigators.

"I think we're at the maximum level of horror at this abuse of corpse case," she said. "This is among the worst I've seen."

This is my thoughts exactly. The moment I heard the suspect moved to AL from GA I thought of the Dermonds. It takes a 'certain' type of person to carry out these actions, I can't imagine there are many people out there capable of such a thing.
