GUILTY WA - Velma Tirado, 45, found murdered, Tacoma, 27 Aug 2006

Brandon Lee Farmer, 29, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 45-year-old Velma Tirado.
Farmer and another man picked up Tirado in downtown Tacoma, where she was working as prostitute Aug. 27, 2006. They drove in a truck to an alley near South 19th Street and Fawcett Avenue, where other people who were parked nearby reported hearing gunshots.

The other man, who said he was the driver, told California investigators last month that Farmer shot Tirado in the head after she had sex with him in the truck in the alley.

Detectives weren't able to identify any suspects during the original investigation, and the case was soon transferred to the Tacoma Police Department's Cold Case Unit.

After nearly a decade of silence, police say Farmer's passenger on the night of the murder, Dusty Titus, admitted to being being in the truck when Tirado was killed.

A Tacoma police detective and an FBI agent arranged an interview with Titus, which is when he identified Farmer as the shooter.
