Czech Republic - Karl Law, 34, Prague, 15 Nov 2014

'The fiancée of a man who mysteriously vanished during a stag do in Prague at the weekend says she is "frantic" with worry about her partner.

Builder Karl Law, 34, went missing at 11.30pm on Saturday after becoming split from a 13-strong stag (bachelor) party in Prague's Old Town Square.

His friends only realised he was missing when they returned to their hotel at 3am on Sunday only to find he was not there.

Karl, a dad of one from Fareham, Hants, did not have a passport, mobile phone or bank card with him but was carrying around £170 in cash.'

Karl and his partner have a three-year-old son.

Very worrying situation. When I was in Prague several years ago I got talking to a group of lads on a stag do and it sounded like it got pretty messy. A group of them had been robbed by a prostitute too. It's easy to see how things escalate with the beer being reasonably cheap and a group of men being in celebratory spirits.

I was hoping it could just be a case of cold feet, but I see it was for his cousin's wedding, not his. I'm concerned he didn't get in touch for his son's birthday.

I'm not finding an actual missing poster for Karl, in English or Czech. But I'm not a FB member so am never sure if I'm seeing everything or not. Can someone who is, check for me, please?

I got the impression it was a party for his wedding too, at first. The reporting headlines are a bit unfortunate in that respect, as others may think it's a cold feet case too. Exactly what happened to Bob Harrod which meant proper searches got delayed.

Thank you! Yes, we are always allowed to post missing posters with a link, I'm sure. Wish the Czech writing was clearer though.

I was hoping putting that Czech 'missing' phrase into twitter search would bring up some tweets about Karl in Czech, but it didn't.

It seems a female tour guide may have been the last known person so far to have seen Karl, when she spoke to him about his hat, in a bar.

'Milada Korbelova has told The News she briefly talked to the dad-of-one from Fareham about his hat at a bar called Coyotes Prague.

Karl was on his own when they chatted at around midnight on Sunday morning

She said: ‘I talked to him. We had a very short conversation about his hat as it is some special British mark or something.

‘I met him while pub crawling with my group of tourists at Coyotes bar Prague around midnight.

‘It looked like he got lost or something. I’m not sure about this one, it is just my feeling that at the moment we met him he was already on his own.

‘He did not look completely sober and that hat was just something people from my group pointed out.'

Sadly, Coyotes bar is a few blocks away from the Vitava river, which would have been pretty cold that night. If Karl's hotel was close - or on the far side - of the river from the bar, then I am afraid things look very ominous indeed.

I do not know why people who have been drinking often go too close to water, but experience of other missing cases has shown me that they do. I hope Czech authorities will carry out some diver searches, otherwise I am afraid it may be a long time before Karl is found and brought home. Pressure may be needed as I'm not certain Czech police searches for missing people are always as comprehensive as they could be. I hope they can obtain a DNA sample from Karl's possessions or his family, in case he is found some distance away, some time in the future. If he doesn't have id, he might not be identified.

It would also be very helpful if a detailed description of any rings etc Karl was wearing could be circulated. Especially any of precious metals that will have an English hallmark.

It's identical in Czech and English -

At the top in bold "Missing"

Then "Have you seen this man? Please call police ____ or these numbers _____ or _____" (numbers given)

And then ends with his full name.

It's also on Twitter and linked in some of the BBC articles now.

And Karl - but spelled Karel - is a pretty common Czech name which actually is advantageous in this case. While the pronunciation obviously is different also, one that at least 'transfers' between languages easier just is always easier to pass around word of mouth.

Irrelevant at this point since he was last seen in Prague, but I've found that to be true even outside of the larger cities of Prague, Ostrava, even Brno, etc. And definitely if he ended up in a small village or disoriented and with someone older who perhaps didn't speak as much English. It's much easier than a name with no correlation.

I'll poke around a bit and then come back later on if he's not found by then and/or if we don't have an actual native Czech speaker.

Mine's not perfect but it's passable and I'm happy to help if I can.

Oh, and I have to say, they're really doing quite a good job of getting info out there.

10,000+ likes already on the "Help" page on FB.

And it's online all over the place!

If you search his name + "Praha" instead of Prague then you can find even more just on google...plus those on social media
