Fingers crossed. It's not a good day to be caught outside. I hope he's able to find some shelter somewhere.

Officials have recovered the canoe and an oar they believe belonged to it. Kowalski's backpack was also recovered in the water.

This is local for me. It has hit my FB and my DD twitter acct. Very sad situation here. He is a wrestler and they have a meet on Saturday ( my DD is doing an internship for sports medicine through her H.S and is attending this wrestling match) Prayers to his family

Conflicting reports here as searches halt for the day. Police seem to be saying only professionals are needed now, but meanwhile, family and volunteers continuing to search in the dark and are appealing for boat owners with lights, and especially catfish fisherman? Not sure why they are particularly wanted.

'Officials say because of the length of time, water temperatures and river conditions, they believe this is now a recovery operation but family members tell us, they still have hope'

As for the catfish fisherman, I can only guess it's because they fish at night. At least, that's when my dad always took me. The only other difference was when we were cat fishing, our bait was always dropped to the river bottom, instead of floating. I'm still thinking it is for the night fishing aspect.

I took that to mean LE would really rather the family and volunteers weren't out there putting themselves in danger and distracting the professionals.

A group of thirteen boats scoured the Susquehanna River on Sunday as the search for a missing teenager stretched into its seventh day...

Although friends, family, and local authorities have searched the river tirelessly since his disappearance, there have been few new leads since the recovery of Kowalski's canoe and backpack on Thursday.

It's been a tough 10 days for the Cedar Cliff wrestling team and the surrounding community in Cumberland County.
Wrestler Medard Kowalski, 17, went missing the night of Dec. 1 after going hunting in his canoe along the Susquehanna river. Search crews have found his backpack, canoe and an oar, according to reports, and continue to search for the teen.
Colts head coach Rob Rapsey joined the inaugural “The Mat Report” podcast Wednesday to discuss the emotional incident and how his team and the community are dealing with the loss of a loved one, friend and teammate.

Volunteers fought through cold temperatures and swift currents Friday in continued rescue efforts for the missing 17-year-old hunter from New Cumberland.

The 12th day of searching for Medard Kowalski centered near where a witness saw his empty boat floating on the Susquehanna River and where police said his cellphone was last tracked in an area between the New Cumberland Boating and Fishing Club launch and Hoak Island...

Many of the volunteers who showed up en masse are expected to return Saturday. Medard Kowalski Sr. said he expected a sizable crowd at the river rescue nightly meeting.

After more than four hours, divers who joined in the search Saturday on the Susquehanna River for Medard Kowalski, could not find the teen from New Cumberland.

"We did our best today. Tomorrow's another day. We're going to do our best until we bring little Med home," said Tim Dickson, a close family friend who has joined Medard's father during the search.

"They just want answers," Dickson said of the family. "They want him back so that they can have a time to start the grieving process, I guess. It's definitely taken a toll on friends, family, everybody."
