The amount of child Doe's is unbelievable. I find these cases extremely baffling. How can you have an unclaimed child?
Has anyhting new been found out about these cases on the doe network- 50ufny , 45ufms Anyone know?

It doesn't mean that the parents of the children aren't looking for them. It means there is no clearcut system set up to match the missing and the UID.
Usually an imidentified body of a child will be compared to missing children from that area, and maybe surrounding states. But then if still unidentified it is sort of in limbo. Waiting for a match.

With all the unidentified child does, there should be an easier way to run computer sorts on databases to try to achieve a match. Unfortunately, in many cases, missing children have been murdered.

When websites update their photos of these children with the popular "age progressed" image, rather than including more photos of the child at the age he/she went missing, it makes it harder to match doe cases with missing cases.

Another problem encountered when attempting to make matches, is that some sites (like the Doenetwork) will only put a missing case up after the person has been seven years missing.

Many of the newer sites are posting them sooner though. DOE was set up for cold cases so I guess that is the reason for the rule.

Incidently, Christine2448 has started a thread asking members to send emails to TV stations to request a 24/7 news channel for the missing/abducted/unidentified persons.
