David Ramirez-Martinez, 45, has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of Bonnie Boudouvas on May 14, 1994, in her home in the 3900 block of North Ashland Avenue, police said in a news release. Ramirez-Martinez was ordered held without bail in a hearing Saturday.

Boudouvas, who lived on the second floor of a two-flat, was found dead in her bathtub after her neighbors in the first-floor apartment investigated the source of water dripping through their ceiling, police said at the time of her death. Boudouvas had been stabbed numerous times in the chest with a knife, according to court documents. Police at the time said it was possible she was strangled.

Cold case detectives were able to link Ramirez-Martinez to the murder through a DNA match, police said. A warrant was issued for Ramirez-Martinez Thursday and he was arrested and extradited from Boulder, Colorado.

Ramirez-Martinez, of the 5000 block of East Valmont Road in Boulder, is due in bond court Saturday.
