    Canada - David-Jean Cottard, 42, Joliette QC, 15 Dec 2014

    David-Jean Cottard

David Jean Cottard, 42, reported missing by Montreal police
Montreal police are searching for a potential witness in the disappearance of a 42-year-old man missing since Dec. 15. Investigators say Cottard, a Joliette resident, stepped out for air on his lunch but never returned to his downtown workplace, and never came home that night.
Police believe this woman can help them find missing man
The woman is identified as white, in her 20s, with brown hair. Police say she was seen at Complexe Desjardins, on Ste-Catherine Street West, at around 1:30 p.m. on the same day Cottard disappeared.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

So did he know her and was she using his card at the ATM? He stepped outside it says, and is his workplace on a public street with lots of people around?

I think she just happened to be next in line to use the ATM. She has since come forward and apparently is not connected to David's disappearance.

He looks much older than 42. I wonder what he did for work? Its odd to me that they dont specify anythng about his place of employment. He works right in the middle of downtown Montreal by The Bay department store. It would have been very busy on that day. Lots and lots of office and retail workers the area. I wonder why he walked to Complexe Desjardins to use an ATM? There would have been one much closer to his work. It's a bit of a walk especially in December in Montreal. Complexe Desjardins is a huge shopping complex with offices on the top floors. It is also right next to the Passport Canada office as well as many government offices. Is he a Canadian citizen/resident? I know he's originally from France but wondering if he was working here legally.
