Township police said Hamlett threw bricks that shattered windows in four township homes and nine cars back in May.

"At the time he was stopped, Hamlett was in possession of a backpack that had small red particles in it that the officers on scene felt could be pieces of red brick," Police Chief Robert Carney said in August.
Sounds like he's been dealing with emotional issues for a while. Phone going dead on the GWB is never a good sign, although people seem convinced that he made it to the other side to Wash Heights.

I remember hearing about the vandalism in the local news. What happened to this kid? Hope he's safe somewhere.

A University of Pennsylvanis track star from NJ committed suicide earlier this year.

Actually, there's been a rash of suicides within the past year or so.

His disappearance is more troubling because an MRI recently revealed he has a brain cyst...

Hamlett is a junior on leave for the fall semester.

" His identification and debit cards and other items in his wallet were discovered in a dumpster near Public School 173 on 174th St. near Broadway, Katherine said."

Police tracked Timothy’s Sprint cellphone to a home in Washington Heights where a group of youngsters said they found the phone and wallet.

His parents removed Timothy, a junior philosophy major, from school after noticing a change in his mood. He stopped being his normal social self and became aggressive and closed-in. “He was experiencing some issues that suggest his behavior had become inconsistent with whom we knew him to be,” Katherine said, adding that performance enhancement supplements may have contributed to the changes.

This story makes me so sad. I have a daughter around the same age who I barely recognize right now as my baby girl. Behavior at this age can change dramatically and IMO the new freedoms make life more difficult to manage for a few years. I hope that this young man is safe somewhere and will come home to his mama soon. I am sure that her heart is broken. If he isn't ready to come home then I pray that he just makes a phone call to let his family know that he is okay. Growing up is hard. Prayers for Timothy and his family.

There have been reports of multiple sightings of his son from a token booth, clerk, a man in the Bronx, and someone who may have seen him at Penn Station.

UPDATE: Dissatisfied with police action, family of missing student hires PI

As temperatures dip below freezing in New York City, the family of College junior Timothy Hamlett has hired a private investigator to help find the missing former track and field athlete. Hamlett’s mother expressed concern that her son could be disoriented and in danger due to the weather. Medical testing immediately before his disappearance indicated the possibility of a brain cyst, though this had not been confirmed.

There was a time Katherine Hamlett wouldn't have paid the homeless people in the subway much attention. But since her 20-year-old son disappeared two weeks ago, that has changed. Now, she stares into those faces long and hard — to see if one of them is Timothy...

Those who have looked for Timothy Hamlett include various police agencies, more than 50 volunteers, a private investigator and Timothy's best friend, Akinde Hanna, who was born just minutes after him and calls him brother. They have canvassed and recanvassed huge swaths of Manhattan, especially targeting the places a person who has no phone or money might go: hospitals, homeless shelters, food kitchens, subways and fast-food restaurants open all hours...

Timothy's mental state is as much a mystery as his whereabouts. His behavior started to change, his parents said, after he started taking athletic, dietary and male-enhancement supplements in college, presumably to improve his abilities as a runner. Tests came back negative for hard drugs.

NJ Mother Pleads For Information After Son, Timothy Hamlett, Goes Missing
TEANECK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) – A Teaneck, New Jersey, mother whose son has been missing since Dec. 26, 2014, is asking for help in locating her son. Katherine Hamlett said her 20-year-old son, Timothy Hamlett, left their Teaneck home the day after Christmas. When the family realized he hadn’t returned, they pinged his cell phone to New York City’s Washington Heights area. Hamlett told 1010 WINS she alerted Port Authority police and began a frantic search for him.

Local reports say police tracked his phone to a Washington Heights home where a group of children said they found his phone and wallet.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Male enhancement drugs may have caused psychosis in missing N.J. student, report says
TEANECK — The former Ivy League student who vanished in December lost touch with reality after an addiction to energy supplements and penis enlargement pills, Timothy Hamlett's family tells The Daily Beast.

The family believes supplements like Pygeum, Ginseng Panax, Vitalikor Male Enhancement, Big Jim and the Twins Penis Enlargement were responsible for the 20-year-old developing psychosis shortly before his disappearance.

I'm not trying to be funny or anything, but I didn't know that that one specific enhancement drug even existed. I'm sure it helps blood flow downstairs or something, so would that cause less blood flow to his brain thereby causing mental issues?

I used to do energy drinks, but when I found out that my blood pressure is high years ago, my doctor put a stop to that big time.
