Australia - Woman charged over end of month attempted murder of four children, QLD

A 58-year-old Queensland woman has been charged with four counts of attempted murder and with interfering with a corpse as police investigate the homicides of two children and a fire involving two others.
The woman was charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of arson in relation to a fire at a house at Morayfield, north of Brisbane, in February.
It is alleged two boys, aged nine and 11, were deliberately trapped in the fire.
The boys managed to escape, but one suffered burns to his lower limbs.
The woman has also been charged with one count of interfering with a corpse in relation to the death of a seven-month-old infant from the same family in September.
She is still assisting police with their investigations into the alleged homicide of the infant, as well as the baby's three-year-old sibling in July 2013.
Each of the incidents took place on the 27th day of the month.

Oh my god. I don't even know what to say. Why?!? rip to the poor little ones who died at the hands of this monster and imagine the surviving kids knowing their grandmother who was supposed to be caring for them was trying to kill them.

What a disgusting evil woman. Hope she rots in jail

It never said how the 3-year-old died. I'm guessing this '"grand mother" wasn't suspected of the first two deaths or she wouldn't be caring for the boys. One would hope. Where are the parents? How devastating. Rest in peace little ones. I hope the boys can emotionally recover.

Queensland grandmother allegedly tried to suffocate 11-year-old step-grandson twice before setting his bedroom alight: court

A Queensland grandmother will remain behind bars after a court heard allegations she attempted to murder two of her grandchildren.
The court heard on two separate occasions she allegedly tried to smother the 11-year-old boy, once with a tea towel and a second time with a pillow.

Police consider appeal as grandmother charged with four counts of attempted murder is granted bail

    January 07, 2015 12:00AM

POLICE have consulted lawyers about appealing a magistrate’s decision to grant bail to a grandmother accused of trying to kill two children in a house fire and trying to smother one while he slept.

The Courier-Mail has been told police have met with the Queensland Police Service legal unit about the “disappointing” decision to give bail to the Morayfield “house of horrors” grandmother.

The charge of interfering with a corpse relates to the death of the seven-month-old at the house last year.
Police allege the grandmother moved the boy from where he died and told family to lie about where he died.

Magistrate Bernadette Callaghan on Monday granted bail to the 58-year-old charged with four counts of attempted murder, attempted arson and interfering with a corpse pending the woman finding a suitable place to live.

“Don’t make it too difficult for this woman to live her life,” she said to the police prosecutor in court.

The magistrate has previously been criticised by police for leniency.

‘House of horrors’ gran remains in jail a week after being granted bail

    January 12, 2015 12:00AM

THE “house of horrors” grandmother is still in prison a week after being granted bail, because she is yet to find a suitable place to live.

Controversial magistrate Bernadette Callaghan granted the 58-year-old woman bail last Monday but said she must remain behind bars until she could find a place to live where she would have no contact with children.

The Courier-Mail understands the woman has been unable to find a place to live where there are no children.

    November 2015:

A seven-month-old also died at the residence last September and the Caboolture woman was charged with interfering with the corpse.

Police investigated whether there were suspicious circumstances surrounding this death and that of another child at the house as well in 2013. But the woman has not been charged with causing their deaths.
