DETROIT (CBS DETROIT) – Some have been solved and others remain a mystery. Missing persons cases never fail to capture the public’s attention as family and friends plead for help to find lost loved ones.

Here are just a handful of the biggest Michigan missing persons cases of 2014:

Chelsea Bruck: Family and friends have vowed to keep looking for this 22-year-old Monroe County woman, even though police have officially stopped their search. Chelsea Bruck was wearing a “Poison Ivy” comic book character costume when she was last seen Oct. 6 a Halloween party in rural Frenchtown Township, about 35 miles southwest of Detroit. Authorities have followed up on hundreds of tips and a hefty cash reward is being offered in this case.

Theresa DeKeyzer: This 22-year-old Warren woman was purportedly dropped off about four blocks from her home on June 16 — and was never seen alive again. After her body was found in September, entombed in cement inside of a 55-gallon drum bolted to the floor of a utility trailer at a Plymouth Township storage facility, boyfriend 37-year-old Scott Wobbe, was charged with first degree murder and disinterment of a body. He faces life in prison if convicted.

Kristian Justice & Kaylah Hunter: Six years old and 8 months old respectively, what happened to these two kids remains a mystery after their mother, 27-year-old Alicia Fox was found shot to death in an abandoned Detroit home in June. In August, Fox’s husband, Erin Justice — who is Kristian’s father — was ordered held without bond in his wife’s death. Detroit Police Chief Craig has said investigators have no idea if the children are dead or alive.

Teleka Patrick: A body pulled from an Indiana lake in April was identified as that of this 30-year-old Kalamazoo doctor. Authorities said Patrick had been acting strangely before her disappearance months earlier, allegations surfaced that she’d had been stalking pastor and gospel singer Marvin Sapp, and Patrick’s ex-husband said he had concerns about her mental health. Her death was ruled an accidental drowning after two autopsies and an investigation showed no signs of foul play.

April Millsap: This 14-year-old girl was missing only briefly before her body was found along a popular walking trail, but her death rocked her rural Macomb County community. April Millsap was walking her dog when authorities say she was beaten and stomped to death by 32-year-old James VanCallis during a failed attempt to rape her. He now faces trial on four felony counts, including first-degree felony murder, in her death.

Kimberly DeJohn: Prosecutors say Loyd Dejohn, 46, confessed to his involvement in the murder of his 51-year-old wife — a mother of three — whose body was discovered in a shallow grave in Cheboygan County — about a month after she disappeared, after police followed up on a tip from a prison inmate. Loyd Dejohn remains jailed on a $1 million bond charged with first-degree murder in the case. His mother says she can’t believe it.

Brenna Machus: Her body was discovered in July in a wooded area near the Southfield Freeway, less than two miles from the Dearborn Family Dollar where she worked as an assistant manager. Machus, 22, disappeared the same night her 20-year-old co-worker Joseph Orlando was fatally shot in the store. Lavere Bryant, 35, has denied guilt in the case, but will spend the rest of his life behind bars after he was convicted of first-degree murder in both deaths.

Jasmine Moody: Detroit police are still looking for tips in the case of this college student who disappeared in Dec. 4. The 18-year-old was visiting her friend in the city while on break from Texas Woman’s University when the pair allegedly for into an argument and Moody left without taking any of her personal belongings. Her parents have told reporters they don’t buy that story and they’re worried about their daughter’s well-being.

Hayley Turner: She admitted she faked her own abduction and put an ad on Craigslist to find a kidnapper. This 18-year-old Monroe County woman was found “standing on a street corner, partially clothed and holding a puppy” 16-hours after she disappeared following a phone call with a friend about a man with a gun. Turner pleaded guilty to causing a false police report to be filed and the judge accused her of “crying wolf” when she was sentence to November to three years probation. She must also pay $15,000 to reimburse the sheriff’s office for the search.

Jessica Heeringa: “It’s frustrating,” said State Police Lt. Mike Shaw. Authorities investigating the disappearance of this 25-year-old mother from her job at a western Michigan gas station in April 26, 2013, issued a fresh appeal for tips in the case this past spring. Despite a year of “intensive investigation” by 15 local, state and federal agencies, police do not know what happened to Herringa — although DNA testing showed a small amount of her blood at the scene.

Dr. Teleka Patrick. When I look back at the hours spent trying to decipher the undecipherable. Rest in Peace dear lady.

Sad that no men made this list. I mean, not that missing women is good, just....err..y'all know what i mean!

Oh dang, i need more coffee.

As stated when I created the exact same thread (you'll see it down the page) this list is compiled of missing cases in Michigan

No problem but your question is still very valid. Where is Relisha Rudd?
That's a great question. For whatever reason, she wasn't included on this list by whomever made this list. I'm also assuming that this covers the country as a whole.

I'd also include Hannah Graham and the young lady that, forgive my use of the word, allegedly committed suicide in Texas. Leanne Bearden.

It literally makes me sick to realize the number of pages WS has for unsolved MP cases. Humans are evil beings. :sorry:

Thanks for posting this Los!

Happy New Year everyone. May 2015 be the year of justice and many of these cases being marked as solved.

I suppose you would have to include Heather Elvis. She went missing in Dec 2013, but there was a lot of news in 2014, including an arrest.

Holly Bobo. She was missing a few years earlier, but it came back in the news when her body was found and with some arrests.

Kelli Bordeaux. Also missing earlier, but her body was found in 2014 and an arrest was made.

so very many memorable cases in 2014. And so very many more that barely blipped into people's awareness. Truly overwhelming when contemplated.

Perhaps the title needs to say this is one single state only. This is a list for Michigan only.
