A Mount Washington man accused of killing his girlfriend's infant daughter was ordered today to stand trial at a hearing in which his attorney questioned portions of the girl's autopsy results...

The girl's mother, Julie Vojtash, testified at a preliminary hearing this morning that she left the girl, who was asleep, in her upstairs bedroom with Mr. Reeves while she went downstairs for about 10 minutes to make snacks for her nieces, who she was babysitting. During that time, she said, Mr. Reeves was the only person with the girl.

While she was downstairs, Ms. Vojtash heard Kamero make a "discomfort" cry -- one that sounded different from the girl's cries when she was hungry or sleepy.

Trial begins for Mount Washington man accused in death of 5-month-old

Reeves, 31, of Mount Washington, is on trial for homicide in the death of Kamero, whose family called her Kami. The case, before Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge David R. Cashman, began Monday and is expected to last until next week.

During opening statements, Deputy District Attorney Jennifer DiGiovanni said Kami had a massive brain injury as well as visible bruises to her head.

Again it is the Mom's boyfriend who is the baby daughter's worst enemy. The poor little baby had a broken arm that had started to heal. Mom would not have known about that either. It had to become so bad that it was fatal.

Detectives suspected prior abuse in 5-month-old baby's death

On Thursday, prosecutors played about half of a taped two-hour police interrogation of Reeves. On the video, Pittsburgh police detectives tell Reeves that children in the home described two instances of prior abuse of Kami.

A girl told investigators that she saw Reeves pick Kami up and swing her around by her ankle about two weeks before the baby died.

In another instance, a different child told investigators that he saw Reeves shake Kami, twist her, throw her in the air and then put a blanket over her face to try to get her to stop crying, the detectives said.

In the video, Reeves denied the allegations.
