MA - Brandon LaBonte, 21, Pittsfield, February 2005 *D. Lamb guilty*
23-year-old man has pleaded innocent in the alleged beating death of a Pittsfield man who's been missing since February.
Damien James Lamb allegedly killed Brandon LaBonte, 21, over a debt of no more than $150, the Berkshire Eagle reported. LaBonte's body has not been found.
At Lamb's arraignment Friday, Berkshire District Attorney David Capeless said Lamb lured LaBonte to a Becket residence "where he then murdered him by strangling him with rope, beating him with a shovel and then stomping on him."
Prosecutors said Lamb left Massachusetts after police questioned him about LaBonte's disappearance and eventually settled in Davenport, Iowa. Police arrested Lamb on Wednesday after he returned to Westfield for his father's wake.

An 18-year-old woman is charged with being an accessory in the suspected slaying of a Pittsfield man whose body has never been found.
Kendra Keith of Pittsfield pleaded not guilty to a single count of being an accessory after the fact of murder. She was released on personal recognizance after her arraignment.
Prosecutors said Keith is suspected of helping 23-year-old Damien Lamb dispose of Brandon LaBonte's body.

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

I'm sure curious as to how the confession came about. Glad the killer is in jail. Now if he will just tell LE where the body is so that the family can have a service, etc.

...the successful conviction of Damien Lamb in the beating death of Brandon LaBonte.
The LaBonte case was probably the most difficult — and the most satisfying — trial in his career.
"It was especially meaningful," said Caccaviello because he was able to convince the jury that there had been a murder without producing the body.
The case was built around Lamb's previous violent actions against LaBonte, a Savoy resident who attended Hoosac Valley High School in Cheshire, and the testimony of eyewitnesses.
LaBonte's body was never recovered but Lamb, of Iowa, was convicted of second-degree murder and is serving life in prison...
