A reassessment seven years after CNN's founding might have led to choosing a more uptempo, fun number from another Georgia enterprise, in 1987:

Instead, Ted evidently opted for the tune rather famously not played by the ship's band as the Titanic sunk.

They couldn't come up with a better quality video? Even for the 80s that was not good.

I think most folks would prefer REM!

Okay, TV Mogul Person out there -- let's say you owned a network, had indisputable confirmation the world was soon ending, and thus got to soundtrack the proceedings as, in effect, Life's Final Credits rolled across the sky.

What would you pick for that last song? anyone? Something happy, sad, bittersweet? religious? irreligious? angry or resigned, silly, simpering, cynical -- or something in between?

Maybe I'd go with genus: ironical; species: bittersweet, and thus with Ms. Skeeter Davis. Maybe.
