    MI - Henrietta Pearson, 85, Detroit, 15 December 2014

    Henrietta Pearson

Children ask public for help finding missing 85-year-old mother
DETROIT (WJBK) - The holidays are over, the new year started and the Pearson family still waits for their missing mother to return home. The last day 85-year-old Henrietta Pearson was seen, was on Detroit's east side Dec. 15. "It's torture," said Christopher Pearson, Henrietta's son. "The not-knowing." "She set the alarm and left." said Carla Pearson, her daughter. "I'm not sure where she was going. Maybe to the store.. But she never came back." Pearson's children say their mother is showing signs of dementia. "She might get a little confused but she's never not known where she lives," Carla said.

Now Carla and Christopher spend their days searching.

"We've been to every abandoned house and alley," Carla said. "We've overturned mattresses. We've done everything we can do in this immediate area."

They also check in with neighboring police departments in case she has been spotted in another city.

During an interview with FOX 2 they received a call from Detroit police.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

"When from a long distant past nothing persists, after the people are dead, after things are broken and scattered, still alone, more persistent, more faithful, the smell and taste of things remain poised a long, long time like souls, ready to remind us, waiting, hoping for their moment amid the ruins of all the rest, and bear unfaltering in the tiny and almost impalpable drop of their essence the vast structure of recollection."

Aww. I assume she didn't have a cell that could be tracked? She looks like such a sweetheart.

I hope she will be found soon. It doesn't look good that she has been gone for so long, and Detroit is a big place and not the safest place to be.

In one of the WDIV reports there was video of Courville Elementary School where Mrs. Pearson used to work. The building is boarded up, but I wonder if it's been checked thoroughly. The school building would be a place that was familiar to Henrietta, and she might have found a way to get inside to get out of the cold. I hope she is located soon.

Human remains found by children playing outside may be that of a woman reported missing months ago.

Body of missing Henrietta Pearson, 85, found in Hamtramck (Updated)
After months of searching and waiting for answers, the family of Henrietta Pearson received the ending it feared the most.

"I was devastated it didn't seem real," said Christopher Pearson, her son. "I've been keeping distracted. I haven't really dealt with it yet. It is just too much." At the time of her disappearance, the family said Pearson had early stages of dementia.

For months the family, their friends and neighbors searched for their loved one - never giving up hope she would be found alive.

The body of Christopher Pearson's 85-year-old mother was found Saturday in Hamtramck by children who were playing behind an elementary school.

Has anyone mapped the locations? How far away from where she was last known to be was she found?

    RIP Henrietta.

Oh, so sad about Miss Henrietta! I check this thread often...was the elementary school she was found behind the one where she worked? I remember Bette suggesting LE search this school. Condolences to her family.
