Denver police were filtering through calls from tipsters Saturday as they continue to search for a suspect in at least six rapes in the Denver area since November.

The rapes have been linked by DNA evidence, and the same person could be responsible for more assaults, authorities said Friday.

"We are receiving numerous tips," said police spokesman John White. "We are following up on those that are credible."

Despite the calls, police reported no new developments Saturday.

Three rapes were in Denver, two in Aurora and one in Arapahoe County, Denver Police Chief Gerry Whitman said Friday. Detectives are investigating other assaults that may be connected to the same attacker, said Whitman, who declined to give a number or say specifically why they were similar.

Investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying the serial rapist.

He may be driving an older model blue compact car and has used a knife in at least two assaults.
