He was recently added to The Charley Project and I didn't see a thread for him. Investigators are taking another look at his case.

    • Missing Since: February 12, 1979 from Addison, Michigan
    • Classification: Endangered Missing
    • Date of Birth: August 11, 1963
    • Age: 15 years old

    Details of Disappearance
Andrew was last seen after leaving Addison High School in Addison, Michigan at 3:00 p.m. on February 12, 1979. He had been suspended from school because he was caught with a pocketknife. He apparently didn't want to go home because he was afraid he would be punished. Andrew and a friend went to a clubhouse on his friend's property south of Addison, then eventually parted ways. He never arrived at his home in the 14500 block of Burton Road in Clayton, Michigan and has never been heard from again. His mother reported him missing shortly after 5:00 p.m.

Various rumors about Andrew's disappearance circulated the area after he vanished, but none of these could be confirmed. He didn't have a driver's license or Social Security number at the time of his disappearance, and there's been no sign of him since 1979. His case remains unsolved and may be classified as a runaway.

Michigan authorities are seeking fresh information about the case of a 15-year-old boy who disappeared more than three decades ago after being suspended from high school.

After going through the reports, police said they discovered Greer was never put into the missing-person database, and realized there are more tools they can now use to help solve the case. One of those tools includes updated technology that police said could connect family members' DNA to bones and other lost remains to potentially identify Greer.

NAMUS has an alias of Bowman under circumstances tab. If you look under photos though there is a school picture with the name Drew Bowmen. There is an Andrew Bowmen in Oregon but I can't find an age for him on intellus. Bowmen is not common. Drew Bowmen shows up in Hastings Michigan.

Just read about this case being reopened and looked up his name here. Sounds like he maybe ran away to avoid getting in trouble and could of died of natural causes if he tried hiding out in the woods. Or he could have actually ran away and got pretty far and met foul play. There is always the possibility too he is still alive and just never went back. You would really think though getting in trouble for having a knife would keep him away from his family for this long which makes me believe he is probably not alive. Hope his brother finds out more information on what happened to Andrew

    Case Number: 413-79

    Details of Disappearance
Andrew Jackson Greer was last seen on February 12, 1979 in Addison, MI. Greer was suspended from school for allegedly bringing a pocket knife to school and never returned home. He was a student at Addison High School at the time and lived with his family on Burton Road. Greer went with a friend to spend time at a clubhouse on the friend's family’s property south of Addison. Eventually, they parted ways.

Greer was reported missing by his mother at 5:10 p.m. that day.

Rumors circulated the school campus and beyond that Greer was allegedly killed and buried near a barn, or he was last seen hitchhiking along U.S. 127 near Hudson. No solid evidence to support either scenario came to light. The investigation resulted in no leads as to Greer’s whereabouts.

Greer had neither a driver’s license nor a Social Security number at the time he disappeared.

Does anyone see the resemblance between him and 1979 Bell CA John Doe?

    Andrew: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/g/greer_andrew.html
    UID: http://doenetwork.org/cases/1401umca.html

I feel that he could have cut his hair to avoid being recognized; the color looks roughly similar to the UID's. And those rumors about him were two completely different stories. Who knows the truth. He may have hitchhiked along U.S. 127 but ended up in CA. I wonder, did he have any family along the 127 or in California?

New technology, tools to help in Clayton's 1979 missing teen case

    http://www.lenconnect.com/article/20...NEWS/160209269

Samples of DNA from family members of a Lenawee County teen who disappeared 37 years ago are currently being compared to unidentified remains from across the country as efforts continue to solve the cold case.

Michigan State Police Detective Sgt. Larry Rothman said that during the past year he conducted a number of interviews and is “pursuing some investigational leads” in the 1979 disappearance of Andrew Jackson “Drew” Greer Jr.

Bump for Andrew. Such a strange situation, I wonder if they are still running checks. I wish Namus would listed UIDs ruled out on missing person pages.
