Roseville Police Chief James Berlin said details about the woman are not being released at this time. He said the arrest was not made in St. Clair or Sanilac counties, although the investigation did move into the Blue Water Area today.

"We received some information we deemed credible so our detectives are following up on that today," he said.

Berlin said the woman could be arraigned Tuesday in Roseville's 39th District Court.

Berlin wouldn't say how police located the woman but confirmed she lives in Metro Detroit and was arrested on the street about in Metro Detroit about 12:30 p.m. Monday...

The child found in Roseville has been nicknamed Henry Alexander Macomb, named for Macomb's namesake, Gen. Alexander Macomb, by the Macomb County Medical Examiner's Office. Community members in Clinton Township and Macomb County have agreed to pay for a forthcoming burial at Resurrection Cemetery.

Roseville Police Chief James Berlin says prosecutors are working Tuesday morning to get warrants signed for criminal charges against a 24-year-old Eastpointe woman suspected of giving birth to a boy found dead among rubbish at a recycling center in Roseville on Jan. 14.

"The medical examiner is working on the final examination, but it appears to be neglect from exposure" to cold, Berlin said. The death has been ruled a homicide... More information on the woman will be released today after her arraignment tentatively scheduled for 1 p.m...

"We haven't had a chance to ask her, but we don't really give a damn what she has to say," Berlin responded when asked if the child had been given a name by his mother.

“According to her, the child was born around Dec. 22 and is believed to have passed away around Dec. 24,” Roseville Police Chief James Berlin said Tuesday. “She claims she wrapped it up and took it to her parent’s home and put it in a storage shed in the backyard. And then a person, or persons unknown, placed him into a recycling bin, the kind you have at your curb”...

Police received dozens of tips about the case, some of which helped them to zero in on the alleged mother. According to police, the woman had been pregnant and acquaintances were suspicious about her explanation for the absence of the baby, Berlin said...

“She lives wherever her head hits the pillow,” Berlin said. “We have no idea who the father of the child is, and we don’t think she knows either.”

It's just so sad. I have a few friends dealing with infertility issues and I know there are so many others who would have gladly taken that sweet boy and surrounded him with love.

Awesome that 3 days after she kills her newborn, she is posting new selfies. And that she lists herself as "full time mom". And when did she lose custody of her 3 other children? Nasty, selfish... Checked every couple of hours to see if baby had passed. 2 days that poor baby lived!! We need eye for an eye laws. Imo

A friend described Alexie as very troubled, but not a monster. Tarah Bartram, 24, of Roseville said she has known Alexie since they were 10th-graders at East Detroit High School in Eastpointe. Alexie, she said, dropped out. "She is not a bad person. She just has a lot of addictions and issues with her family," said Bartram. "What she (is accused of), it is a really bad thing."

Alexie's friends knew she was pregnant, Bartram said, but she lost contact with them and disappeared...

Bartram said Alexie "was fine for a while because she was on medication and then all of a sudden, she lost it."

Three days before Christmas, "Henry Alexander Macomb" was born in the detached garage of an Eastpointe house. That cold garage in southern Macomb County would be the only home he would know for his short, lonely life...

"This baby must have suffered greatly," Roseville Police Chief James Berlin said after the court appearance...

Berlin said the baby was left in the uninsulated, wood-sided garage from Dec. 22 to Dec. 24 when temperatures were in the 40s and 50s. The National Weather Service reports that the temperature in the area on Dec. 22 dropped to 24 degrees. Over the next two days, the low temperature was 37 degrees.

Macomb County morgue workers gave him his unofficial name and groups in the county have rallied to provide him a proper service and burial.

For me, this line of the article was so very sad. I thought about how long and hard my husband and I pondered over choosing the names of our four children and the care we put into it. And this poor, precious baby had to be named and buried by strangers. I pray for this young girl and for her family, who no doubt has no idea what else to do about her.
