A former owner of a day-care center is accused of sexually assaulting four young girls over an extended period at various locations, including his business and his apartment.

Joseph Renander, 28, charged with multiple felony counts of sexual assault of a child by a person in a position of trust, enticement of a child and sexual exploitation of a child, appeared Tuesday at a preliminary hearing in district court in Jefferson County.

Detective C.J. Kloberdance, an investigator with the Golden Police Department, testified that the four alleged victims - including three sisters - were from 5 to 8 years old at the time of the assaults.

The girls told investigators the assaults took place in reading and nap rooms at a day-care center in Golden, in a shed behind the center, in a center bathroom, inside a center van and at Renander's apartment in Golden between June 2001 and December 2002. http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_2892488
