Man Wrongly Convicted of Murder Freed From Prison
Reading about this made me smile at the thought of Joseph Sledge finally going home. He was convicted on the word of a man who was promised leniency for his testimony against Sledge. There was no physical evidence linking Sledge to the crime. Finally, justice has prevailed.
Unhappily, though, Joseph Sledge spent 40 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. That makes me terribly sad. Also, someone who did commit murder has escaped punishment and has possibly killed again.
