LA - Victoria Perez, 22, pregnant, murdered, Alexandria, 10 March 2011

Deputies told us they received information that there could be evidence here in connection with the March 2011 disappearance of 22-year-old Victoria Perez of Lecompte. Perez was eight months pregnant when she disappeared after a doctor's visit at Rapides Regional.

According to NBC affiliate KPLC, authorities said they have arrested 32-year-old Pamela Causey-Fregia, who they called a person of interest.

Allen Parish Sheriff Doug Hebert said 32-year-old Pamela Causey-Fregia has been charged with 1st degree murder and 1st degree feticide.

Hebert said they received a credible tip earlier this week about the case, which led them to a home on Matthew Street in Oakdale. The home is owned by a member of Fregia's family. Sheriff Hebert said they found remains on the property... DNA testing is still underway to determine if they are Perez. However, based on information they've received, Hebert is confident the remains are Perez...

According to Hebert, Causey was trying to convince her ex-boyfriend she was pregnant around the time of Perez's disappearance. Hebert said after the boyfriend left her, Causey showed him a pregnancy test and sonogram. Not convinced, the boyfriend left and went back to Texas. Hebert said Causey approached Perez and offered her baby clothes to get her to return to Oakdale. He said Causey killed Perez inside the home, then burned and buried her body on the property.

    From the same article -

Sheriff Hebert said all three of Causey's children, ages 10, 8, and 6 years old, were at the home during the time Perez was killed. The children were the ones that came forward and told law enforcement. Hebert said one of them was allegedly with Causey when she picked Perez up in Alexandria, and another with her when she dumped and burned the body. All have been interviewed and placed with Child Protective Services.
    RIP Victoria.

I think it was added after you posted. I thought it was a new article to post because I had not read that in the article earlier. The timestamps do show an afternoon update.

It's a story with twists and turns right out of a horror movie, and now investigators in Allen Parish are finally piecing the plot together. “I would say it's one of the most diabolical cases," Allen Parish Sheriff Doug Hebert said...

Investigators say around 2010, Pamela Causey-Fregia's husband left her and moved to Texas. She concocted a story that she was pregnant, even sending him fake sonogram photos, in an effort to win him back. He didn't believe her. So, around the time she would have been at term, investigators said she came up with a plot to get a baby of her own.

"In March 2011, when she would have been nearing the 9th month of her supposed pregnancy, she traveled to Rapides Women and Children's hospital with her youngest daughter looking to find a child. She found Perez who was 8 months pregnant, knew her to be from Oakdale and lured her to a residence in Oakdale under the premise of giving her baby clothes," Hebert said. "Right now, we do not know if she attempted to remove the child from Perez's body. but all information we have indicates that was her intention," Hebert said.

"Her youngest daughter went with her to Rapides Women's & Children's Hospital. Her mother was there as the girl put it to 'find a child,'" said Hebert.

When asked about the allegations, Hebert said Causey first denied she even knew Perez. "She later implicated herself in the crime and placed herself at the crime scene. She said she was with someone else who did it, but that she didn't actually kill her. She gave some name to us. We believe it's a fictitious name she made up because we have no evidence of this person," said Hebert, "Also, the kids said there was no one else at the home. We have not found a single statement or reference that the kids have made that we have found to be untrue."

"I want to applaud those children for coming forward. I can only imagine - both the emotional strain and what it would take, one to see your parent do such an act, then turn around at some point and have enough courage to report that fact," said Hebert.

I just saw this story on the news this morning. Just about the worst of the worst, IMO.

This is just SO wrong on so many levels. Those poor children! What bravery though!!! See, even brought up by evil, children are a bright light.

Did she try to remove the baby? Was that the plan? Or did things go wrong before she could carry out her plan?

I'm confused as to how Causey is posting freely on Facebook as of December 2014 unless there was some mixup in Facebook urls or an unfortunate person now has the same one post-deletion..

    From August:

Pamela Causey-Fregia was allowed to change her plea Thursday to not guilty by reason of insanity, but a judge wants more information before appointing a sanity commission in her case.

Judge Joel A. Davis of the 33rd Judicial District refused to reduce Causey-Fregia's bond of $780,000, however, during Thursday's brief hearing.
