NJ - Edward Purcell, 79, Elizabeth, 19 January 2015
City police are asking for the public's help in locating Edward Purcell, a 79-year-old city man last seen two weeks ago by his apartment building's superintendent. The man has dementia and a seizure condition. He is known to frequent the Union area and often travels by bus.
Purcell is described as a white man of medium build, standing about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds. He has brown eyes and gray hair.

Edward Purcell is an Elizabeth resident and retired East Orange police officer. The last activity on Purcell's cell phone, on Jan. 27, matched with a cell tower on Floral Avenue, covering a quarter-mile radius that includes Kean University, a portion of Magie Avenue and Kennedy Reservation. Multiple law enforcement agencies combed through the woods of Kennedy Reservation yesterday.
An additional search by state police and a special canine unit from the Bergen County Sheriff's Office is planned for today. Phil Rizzuto Park in Elizabeth, where Purcell is known to walk regularly, is also being searched.
He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, sweatpants and sweatshirt and is described as a bald white man with brown eyes, standing 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds.
Purcell's last bank activity was on Dec. 31, when he cashed a check in Union. A bank card in his name was found at Paddy's Place on Rosemount Avenue.

Retired N.J. cop who went missing found dead in Elizabeth
The body of a city resident and retired East Orange police officer reported missing by his family on Jan. 28 was found early Saturday morning in a Gebhardt Avenue backyard, police said.
Edward Purcell, 79, had last been seen in January by the superintendent of his Cherry Street apartment building. Authorities are not regarding his death as suspicious.
