Police: "Her husband reported her missing over the weekend, and so far, we haven't been able to find her." "We also haven't found anything criminal related to it."

Hamm has blonde hair and blue eyes, wears glasses, and has a missing front tooth. She is 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 148 pounds. Her purse, phone and eyeglasses were the only things missing; she had left her car and all her clothing at their home in the 1400 block of East Chestnut Street.

Missing woman Terri Jo Hamm's husband was arrested on a drug charge during a search of the couple's Lancaster home Sunday, but he could face more serious charges in coming days.

Jeffrey S. Hamm pleaded not guilty to a possession of drugs charge, a fifth-degree felony, and asked Fairfield County Municipal Judge Patrick Harris that a reasonable bond be set so he can get his affairs in order and hire an attorney. Hiring an attorney was important, he said, because of his recent dealings with the Fairfield County Prosecutor's Office. "This is going to get crazy real quick, your honor," Hamm said.

Hamm, 54, was arrested before a court-sealed search warrant was conducted Sunday at the Hamms' residence at 1442 E. Chestnut St. after 52-year-old Terri Hamm's disappearance Jan. 26. Jeffrey Hamm reported his wife missing to Lancaster police five days later, on Jan. 31. Fairfield County Prosecutor Gregg Marx said he could not confirm or deny that the investigation has anything to do with Terri Hamm's disappearance. Hamm did not say specifically what his issue with the prosecutor's office was at his arraignment Monday, but he said he needed an attorney quickly. "It's a long story. I'm sure you'll hear it," he told Harris.

According to the original police report, Hamm told police that he and his wife have been married for 17 years "and Terri has never done anything like this." Terri's purse, phone and eyeglasses were missing; her car and clothing were left at their East Chestnut Street home.

Marx attended Hamm's arraignment hearing and requested Jeffrey Hamm be held on a $500,000 cash or surety bond and a $250,000 recognizance bond. The bond recommendation is significant considering Hamm is facing a low-level felony charge for alleged heroin possession. Marx said the high bond was necessary for several reasons, including that Hamm is a potential flight risk and danger to the public if released. "I'm not a flight risk or a risk to anyone in the community or myself," Hamm said in response to the accusation. Marx said prosecutors also have a strong case against Hamm, including that he "confessed to detectives" about the heroin charge.

"I anticipate a great deal of other serious charges," Marx added, saying they could be filed within the next week. Marx did not say whether the other serious charges were related to Terri Hamm's disappearance.

Family and friends gathered Monday night to search for a missing Lancaster woman. The effort is headed up by private investigator Angela Anderson. Ryan South, her son said his mom doesn't venture far from home, it was a complete shock when his step-dad called and said she was missing. "We went over there and went through the house and we just found things in the house," said South. Things that raised South's suspicions. His mom's fake tooth and car were still there. "We just called the cops and it's been a maze since then," said South. "We haven't gotten nothing, absolutely nothing."

The group plans to get back together soon and continue the search.

Her son told the Lancaster Eagle Gazette that his mother never left her house and she didn't drive in the winter.

It doesn't look good for this lady. It was 5 days before her husband reported her missing. She rarely left the house and didn't drive in winter. Her fake tooth was still at home and she didn't take any clothes or anything with her. I think her husband killed her and hid the body. Then her husband is arrested on a heroin charge...

The morning she went missing Terri J. Hamm feared her husband was going to kill her, her sister said.

“She texted me that she overheard him talking to his new drug buddy saying that he was going to kill her,” Carol Hill said.

Investigators said they know where the vehicles are, but want anybody who may have seen them, or the Hamms to come forward with information.

A search warrant conducted at Hamm's home on Sunday turned up evidence, such as clothing, shoes, and flooring, that is being tested for blood stains.

Family members say Hamm left behind both of her winter coats and her dental bridge. It’s something that she would never go in public without, according to relatives.

Members of Terri Hamm's family said they are growing impatient with the lack of details released to them by investigators since her disappearance about two weeks ago. They said they were not given any relief at the news conference, which didn't provide them with any new information.

Terri's brothers, Kenny and Kevin Green, said the last time she was heard from was when she sent a text to her son, Ryan South, on Jan. 26 to say she was in fear for her life. "She was scared," Kenny Green said.

Here's what I know about the topography of Fairfield County, Ohio.

If you are anywhere North of Lancaster, the land is flat. But if you are anywhere South of Lancaster, the land is hilly and is part of the Appalachian region of Southern Ohio.

Oh this poor lady. I wonder why she didn't hurry and take off. Or maybe she did and he stopped her. :(

Missing woman's husband indicted for murder

Even though the body of Terri Jo Hamm was never found after nearly two months of searching, investigators are convinced she is dead and that her husband had something to do with it.

Fairfield County prosecutors brought the missing persons case in front of a grand jury on Friday, indicting Terri's husband, Jeffrey "Scott" Hamm, on multiple counts, including two counts each of aggravated murder and murder.

Prosecutor Gregg Marx said the aggravated murder charges carry a sentence of life in prison without parole and that the murder charges carry a sentence of no less than 15 years to life, should Hamm be convicted.

"I am very pleased with the Lancaster Police Department and our investigators for their hard work and continuing commitment in the case," Marx said. "Terri Hamm's family has attended many meetings at our office and has been very cooperative in this difficult time."

Marx said Terri Hamm's body is still missing. But Marx said he could still try the case without a body and that some capital cases have proceeded on circumstantial evidence with no body. Marx would not say why this is not a capital case.

The indictment accuses Hamm of strangling his wife with a belt and then cleaning up or removing blood at their residence. The indictment also says Hamm removed Terri Hamm's body after killing her, as well as discarding her phone, purse, glasses and the belt.

Lancaster Man Accused of Killing Wife Pleads Not Guilty

The husband of a missing Lancaster woman plead not guilty to her murder among other charges related to her disappearance on Friday.

Along with the aggravated murder charge, Jeffrey Scott Hamm plead not guilty to charges of kidnapping, aggravated robbery, tampering with evidence, and the abuse of his wife Terri Jo Hamm's corpse. Terri Jo has been missing since January. Her body has yet to be discovered.

Scott Hamm, who already was in jail on $500,00 bond for unrelated drug charges, received an additional bond of $1 million for his latest set of charges.
