MO - Kaylynn Moore, 16, dies of hydrocodone OD, mom charged, 24 Dec 2014

    http://fox2now.com/2015/02/04/mother...atal-overdose/

A 49-year-old central Missouri woman was charged for allegedly giving her teenage daughter a fatal dose of heroin... Starletta Blevins (aka Moore) of Dixon was arrested February 3 on charges of second-degree murder, distribution of a controlled substance, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Maries County deputies found the body of 16-year-old Kaylynn Moore in her bed in Blevins’ home on Christmas Eve...

This is not the first fatal overdose to occur in the family, according to the sheriff. Moore’s 15-year-old sister died in April 2003 under similar circumstances.

A probable cause statement in the case states that Blevins-Moore gave her daughter hydrocodone pills that were crushed and snorted by Kaylynn Moore and her boyfriend, 23. Both passed out on their bed and when he awakened about 9:30 a.m. Dec. 24, he found Moore dead beside him.

A 10-year-old child also was in the home at the time of the death and it was noted by detectives that the house was strewn with rotten food, animal waste and trash. The overall sanitary conditions were poor, the statement says.

Blevins-Moore is being held in the Maries County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 17.

Yet two other minors remained in the home.

    December 2015:

Sentencing is now set in February for a mid-Missouri mother charged for the death of her daughter, who overdosed on prescription drugs Christmas Eve.

Starletta Blevins-Moore just pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Her 16-year-old was found dead last year in Maries County near Dixon, about an hour east of Osage Beach.

Woman sentenced to five years for daughter's overdose death - February 2016

    http://krcgtv.com/news/local/woman-s...overdose-death

Starletta Blevins-Moore, who has since started going by Starletta Moore, appeared in Maries County court Monday morning for sentencing.

Blevins-Moore originally faced a host of charges in Kaylynn's death, including second-degree murder.

Those charges were reduced to one felony count and one misdemeanor count of child endangerment.

She was sentenced to five years for the felony count and one year for the misdemeanor count, to be served concurrently.
The Maries County Sheriff said Monday he's disappointed by the sentence handed down in the case of a woman whose daughter died of a drug overdose.

Chris Heitman said it "weighs heavily" on his mind to know Starletta Blevins-Moore will serve a five-year sentence stemming from her daughter's death.

Heitman said he respected Hickle and Schwartze's decisions, though he noted they wouldn't bring back Kaylynn.

"Not only is she (Blevins-Moore) going to do prison time, she's going to have to deal with the death of her daughter for the rest of her life," he said.

Her first daughters (or was it her sister?) death didn't seem to bother her much... Why would this one?
