Rape allegations mount against Bill Cosby #3

Well it looks like Bill Cosby made a stupid decision on his twitter account. He sort of "Streisand Effected" himself.

Rape allegations haunt Bill Cosby in the digital age
By Todd Leopold and Ben Brumfield, CNN
updated 5:08 AM EST, Fri November 14, 2014

    ...The Tweet

On Monday, the comedian -- or whomever was in charge of his social media -- put out a challenge with a jovial picture of Cosby in a cap: "Go ahead. Meme me! #cosbymeme."

The Internet immediately reacted, but probably not in the way Cosby expected.

"Claire, have you seen my ... nevermind, found my raping hat!" tweeted Trill Withers over the cap picture....

Thanks, Donjeta, bringing over your link from last thread -
That seems to be some kind of standard PR release because it's almost verbatim the same statement he made before his January Sandusky show
    http://www.wkyc.com/story/entertainm...tion/22262269/
If that is his standard PR pitch for his acts, then maybe he/PR people need to re-think what they are trying to convey, jmo. I mean do comedians normally invoke "God" and proclaim themselves "masters", Idk?

    From your link Bird:

Prior to the cancellation of the shows the theatre’s owner, Bill Blumenreich, told the Boston Herald he had tightened security inside and outside the venue. Seven of nine planned shows had already been cancelled, by agreement with Cosby.

“I’m stuck in the middle of this,” Blumenreich said. “I tried to cancel all the shows, but I had a contract with the guy and, for these two shows, he’s holding me to the contract.”

“I can’t wait for Sunday to be over,” he added. “I’m done with it.”

"Mr. Cosby just wanted all people coming to his shows to be safe," said spokesman Andrew Miles. "It had nothing to do with any protests."

“I have decided to cancel for your travel safety,” Cosby said in a statement this morning. “No need to worry, I will be back soon to raise the roof with laughter.”

“Mr. Cosby is dedicated to his fans, the protestors, and human rights issues,” Wyatt said. “This is all about safety.”

Bill Cosby, human rights activist. I think the spokesperson is laying it a bit thick.

I think it has been difficult for folks like Blumenreich, who have to honor contracts with BC while the public clamors for cancellation. Not a good position to be in. BC will have a tough time performing ever again, imo.

Weather is now a human rights issue, according to BC?

I know it's predicted to be in the future with ongoing climate change, but I wasn't aware we've arrived there already.

FWIW. BC occupied a position of leadership in many areas of his life: as a television performer, a mentor, a stage performer, a public speaker, a philanthropist, a fund rasier, a benefactor of visual artists, an educator, and, as has been mentioned in various posts, BC was a father figure in the larger community. The allegations imply that he was using his positions in ways that allowed him to be seen as performing a service in a positive way to deflect any attention from his less than stellar personal adventures. The allegations, and the eye witness accounts of BC's womanizing, belittling of younger men, rages towards staff, have painted, IMO, a negative portrait of a complex man. In that light, I found this article by Bishop Joseph G. Mattera regarding abusive leadership to be very interesting. While Mattera, as would be expected from a bishop, relates these characteristics to a religious context, I think they are valid in a secular context as well.

Mattera lists 12 characteristics of abusive leadership, each followed by a short description. For example:

    12. Abusive leaders are control freaks

Abusive leaders freak out when those in their family or organization do not bow down to their every demand. These "control freaks" are motivated by insecurity and fear and try to create followers in their own image and likeness. They demand predictability and obedience to the status quo, and they squash critical thinking, creativity and independence. They would rather have robotic obedience that produces mediocrity rather than flourishing family members or subordinates who fly like eagles.

FWIW, an anonymous source reports ,

Comedian behaves oddly while looking at properties with a real-estate agent, including one on Leonard St., we're told

The Bill Cosby concert scheduled for Feb. 26 at Thalia Mara Hall has been postponed to an as yet undetermined date.

Drake Elder, Ticketmaster and Mississippi Coliseum box office manager, said Cosby's promoter called Friday afternoon with the decision. "They didn't want to postpone it, but he was going to wind up with an isolated date here.

"They said they'll try and reschedule it in the summer. ... It's not exactly canceled, it's just moved to a later date."

Re: statue mentioned at the end of the article.

    Good Lord.
Well, BC is a public figure, so don't think the artist will be in a copyright suit regarding unauthorized use of BC's image.
It sounds like a potentially devastating comment on BC's psychological state, and very relevant to his alleged activities, and is pretty sure to stir up controversy.
