just breaking news right now

he was stabbed at his residence

"Fonyo was 19 years old when he completed a one-legged run across the country, following in the footsteps of Terry Fox, who was forced to abandon his Marathon of Hope four years earlier.

Since then, however, the one-time hero has battled personal demons including cocaine addiction and depression"

''Fallen Canadian hero Steve Fonyo is in an induced coma after being stabbed in the back and beaten by attackers at his Whalley home early Friday morning, The Province has learned."

There's a lot to the story at the link:

utilities recently turned off and possible stolen vehicle in his driveway not adding up to a happy picture

I prefer to remember him as the young man who ran 2 marathons - once in Canada and once in the UK and who raised
$13 million for cancer research.

I don't know if it is good news or bad news but there have been no updates on him or his condition today
