APNewsbreak: police foil plot to kill people at mall
TORONTO (AP) — A senior police official said Friday that police foiled a plot by two suspects who were planning on going to a mall and killing as many people as they could before committing suicide on Valentine's Day in Halifax. The official told The Associated Press the suspects were on a chat stream and were apparently obsessed with death and had many photos of mass killings. Police and other officials said it was not related to Islamic terrorism.

The official said one of the two suspects, a 23-year-old American woman from Geneva, Illinois, was arrested at Halifax's airport and confessed to the plot. The official said she prewrote a number of pronouncements to be tweeted after her death.

Sickening.
Sometimes social media is a good thing; people post the most insane stuff and yet think it's all confidential and only viewable to their peers.
So glad LE was tipped off !!!

I hope they can keep these two idiots locked up.

So who was the tipster? I saw a comment on an ABC news article that said it was the 19 year old who killed himself, but I haven't seen that in the media anywhere yet. Whether it was him or not, I want to thank the individual.

Thank goodness they didn't execute their plan.

(RCMP FB)

Last evening, investigators located the 19-year-old male suspect at a Tiger Maple Avenue residence and at approximately 1:20 a.m., the Emergency Response Team entered his residence and found him deceased. As we previously issued in media release this matter has been referred to the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team for investigation.

James Gamble identified as dead teen linked to alleged Halifax shooting plot
2 charged with conspiracy to commit murder after police foil mass shootings

The 19–year–old found dead in connection with the potential mass shootings in Halifax has been identified as James Gamble, CBC News has confirmed.

Gamble left behind a blog filled with disturbing and dark images of death, shootings and references to the 1999 Columbine high school massacre in Colorado. It also has several references to Adolf Hitler and Nazis.

Wow.

Sorry to robo-post but there is a lot of info out there.

I saw this but I also read the tipster was from Illinois.

Following closely as this is my birth city.

This is horrible! I'm so glad they were stopped. Whoever tipped them off, is such a hero. Imagine the lives saved. ....

I find it weird that there has not been one photo published of the female -- males have had their photo splashed in MSM but her - why is that?

Some debate up here as to whether this should be classified as a 'terrorist attack'.

The Canadian Minister of Justice says that this attack was not 'culturally motivated', and so it doesn't qualify as terrorist. Notwithstanding, it appears that there are some pretty strong neo-Nazi sentiments among the participants, leaving some to wonder whether the definition of 'terrorism' has been narrowed to include only (or mainly) Muslim-related violence.

Fwiw there are may 'wanna be' kids out there that want to be heard. Some crazy, some not. The term 'terrorism' cannot and should not be applied at will - jmo. Applying the term terrorism at will only serves to needlessly rile the public - jmo. Just because Prime Minister SH applied the term to some recently doesn't make it so - jmo. He has an agenda that others do not.

We need not be afraid of every different person we see - that would be crazy. Jmo.

Not sure what others thought of the statement 'murderous misfits' - found it a bit weird myself. Murderous and misfits in the same sentence? What does that mean exactly? Were they potential murderers or misfits? Did not know the terms mean one and the same. Jmo.

"Souvannarath, a 23-year-old from Geneva, Ill., and Shepherd, 20, of Halifax each faces charges, including conspiracy to commit murder.

The two are also each facing charges of:
■Conspiracy to commit arson.
■Conspiracy to use weapons for a dangerous purpose.
■Unlawfully conveying threats through social media.

Also during Tuesday's appearance, their first in court, the case was put over to March 6."

Unfortunately, I went through the females tumblr account before I went to bed last night. I have not looked at the others. It was so disturbing, I didn't feel right linking to it here.

It is full of graphic scenes of murder as well as conversation of killing/killers. There is also graphic sexual conversation.

IMO, after viewing her tumblr, she is obsessed with serial killers and mass murderers. From what I have seen so far, the Nazi references appear to be more related to the fact that mass murder was committed by Nazi's.

Unless I see different, I would not call this terrorism. I would call this a very obsessed, sick (misfit) individual, who was able to find others that share the same obsession.

the raw video of her exiting police van is kind of chilling ---

my first impression was she's a bit ''off'' ((saying it as kindly as possible))
