AL - Indian man, 57, seriously injured by Madison police officer, 6 Feb 2015

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...yzed/23361653/

"A Madison, Ala., police officer has been arrested on assault charges for allegedly slamming an Indian citizen unprovoked to the ground face first during an arrest, leaving him partially paralyzed."

"The officers, who threw Patel to the ground within a minute and a half of approaching him, are heard complaining that Patel cannot speak English. After he is taken down, they try to stand him up despite his loss of control of his legs."

"The incident unfolded around 8 a.m. last Friday near Patel's son's house after police received a 911 call about a person 'walking close to the garage.' Asked for a description of the man, the caller replies: 'He's a skinny black guy, he's got a toboggan on, he's really skinny.'"

Unbelievable. Find it hard to comprehend how out of control LE is these days - everywhere.

An FBI spokesman said the agency is also treating the case as a civil rights investigation.

    From May 2016:

Parker had faced up to 10 years in federal prison for the sidewalk takedown on Feb. 6, 2015 of Sureshbhai Patel, an unarmed Indian citizen walking in front of his son's home. The stop left Patel partly paralyzed and in need of spinal surgery.

Back-to-back federal trials ended with a hung jury. Earlier this year the judge said there would not be a third trial and acquitted Parker of the civil rights charge. That left a state charge for misdemeanor assault, which carried up to a year in jail.

Late Thursday, roughly three weeks before the scheduled misdemeanor trial, Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange announced the state would drop the case.
    From September:

The attorney for Sureshbhai Patel told WHNT News 19 today that he was surprised by Madison’s decision to reinstate Eric Parker to the city’s police department Tuesday...

“Police departments have a hard time disciplining their own,” he said. “But you expect the one time [it could happen] is when it’s on video and there are serious consequences for somebody.”
