A branch of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in Hull, England, had the bright idea of launching a 'KKK Wednesday' club for kids. The moment the promotion hit social media, people began pointing out the other connotations a KKK club might have.

The Hull branch has withdrawn all the promotional materials and Krispy Kreme's HQ in the U.S has issued a formal apology:
' "We do believe this was a completely unintentional oversight on the part of our longtime franchise partners in the U.K.," according to a statement shared with USA TODAY Network by company spokesperson Lafeea Watson.'
