A stray black labrador in Troy, New Hampshire has finally been caught, after deep snow slowed her down. The dog had been living on roadkill and scraps from residents for years, who were unable to tempt her to safety.
'Resident Courtney W. Davis, with the help of his girlfriend, Tiffany L. Bennett, and two of his employees, caught the dog running away from an abandoned trailer on Dort Street. Davis said she had been living there for some time.
That night, as the temperature plummeted below zero degrees, and the windchill pushed it down even further, the dog had a warm place to sleep and a hearty bowl of food to eat for the first time in years.
Its a miracle shes still here, Davis said Monday afternoon '...
She's in a warm garage temporarily now, emaciated and trembling but cared for. A vet says she has heartworm and Lyme disease but can't receive treatment until a mandatory seven days for her owner to reclaim her is up. She is microchipped, but it's registered to another pet refuge, not an individual owner.
