Randall Scott Shreiner, of West Lampeter, waived a preliminary hearing regarding the Feb. 18 killing of 44-year-old Monica Miller, with whom he had an extramarital affair.

Shreiner, allegedly upset that Miller ended their relationship, opened fire outside Miller's apartment complex as she left her home to go to work.

District Judge Tony Russell ordered that Shreiner, 58, be tried in Lancaster County Court on charges of criminal homicide and illegal possession of a firearm.

Randall Shreiner, 58, of West Lampeter Township, told police he bought a handgun Tuesday at a local store. On Wednesday morning, Shreiner left the West Lampeter Township home he shares with his wife, telling her that he was going to a job at Park City Center...

Shreiner parked his vehicle in the area near Miller's apartment and hid outside... When Miller left her building to go to work, Shreiner popped out and confronted her. Miller got into her car and tried to drive away. Shreiner pulled out his handgun, which he had hidden in his jacket, and he shot Miller as she sat in the car. Four shots were fired in all. At some point, either after or during the hail of bullets, Miller got out of her car and fell over in the parking lot.

Her 20-year-old daughter, who lives with Miller, looked out of the apartment window and saw her mother lying face down in a pool of blood. The daughter called 911 and Shreiner fled.

A former pastor from Lancaster County pleaded guilty to fatally shooting his onetime mistress.

Randall Shreiner, 58, of West Lampeter Township, was sentenced to life without parole on Friday morning.
