Skeletonized remains of an unidentified female were found in Brooklyn, NY on September 10, 1998. The female was found by sanitation workers in a wooded area of Seaview Park (aka Canarsie Park) covered with garbage. No clothing or personal effects were recovered. She had been deceased for several weeks to several months before being found. The female is black, 16-25 years old and stood approximately 5’05” tall. She had black curly hair but her eye color and weight are unknown. The images above are a facial reconstruction completed by an art student at the NY Academy of Art and depicts what the female may have looked like in life.

Patrece Alston? Height matches perfectly, timeline is fairly consistent, location makes it less likely.

She certainly looks like a close match. I don't think there would be anything unusual in a Florida woman heading to New York City. It's a popular park and I think the population in that area is mostly AA, or was in the 90's anyway.

I submitted Patrece as a potential match.

Contradictory dates in the Namus profile for Patrece Lashelle:

Date last seen: June 23, 1998 00:00
Circumstances: On June 28, 1998, Alston hasn't been seen since.
https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/19873/8/

Again shows how we need to be very loose with the date ranges and other details when we search for potential matches. I've stopped using filters like race, age and height and even gender since we can't trust any profile to be accurate. Some cases don't seem to have any date of discovery so I'm not sure how to even see them.

I find that NamUs does have those sort of errors fairly frequently. Perhaps it is not truly known the exact day Patrece disappeared.

In a lot of cases, it's simply the lack of information given to them, which of course, is frustrating. However, I think NamUs is a great tool, and I'm thankful for it.

FYI, Patrece seems to have multiple tattoos, but they would be decomposed, so I don't think that's a problem.

What about Neddra Anthony? https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/10273/

Facial structure looks extremely similar, height, location (place of disappearance and location of discovery are about 20 minutes away from each other), age and dates all match. The hair is different (curly on UID, straight on Neddra) but I feel like that is a fairly unimportant detail and Neddra may have straightened her hair or been wearing a wig or something.

I feel really strongly about this potential match. Should I submit it?

FYI I did submit Neddra Anthony as a potential match and was informed OCME had already been exploring this possibility and are looking for DNA from Neddra to test. Hopefully this will be a match!

I think the hair, lips, and eyebrows match, but her nose is a bit different. I can't explain why she went from SC to NY, and I don't know if a body can become mummified in only two or three months, but the resemblance is really close IMO. I'll probably submit in a few days.

Her NCMEC poster says "She had been deceased for several weeks to several months before being found" so I think your timeline is good. http://www.missingkids.com/poster/NCMU/1244002

Carl posted on his Facebook page that she was identified as Neddra Anthony. RIP Neddra
