Teams climbing Scotland's Ben Nevis mountain Thursday had their peace shattered by a series of bloodcurdling screams. One team member, Christopher Sleight, says they just knew it had to be a terrible catastrophe and searched, but found nothing. When they ascended, they found other climbers had heard the terrible cries and also stopped to search, but found nothing.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue stood down a search after also finding nothing. They say no-one has been reported missing on the mountain.

ETA: Anyone, could this possibly have been some kind of mountain bird up that high do you think? Various hunting birds have given me a start with their screams sometimes (not up mountains though. Too high and cold for me).

20 things ...you really should know about Ben Nevis

Snipped...
To summon help from the mountain, the distress signal is :
6 whistle blasts or 6 torch flashes in quick succession, repeated after a 1 minute interval.
But, above all, enjoy The Ben!

IF it was someone in need of assistance hopefully they aren't alone & they have a whistle or torch - tho I suppose there would have been a signal by now.

Strange!

I'm pretty sure it was the 8 year old twins across the street from me.

Maybe a yeti or sasquatch type creature
