A boarding (residential) school in South Africa has launched a 'full investigation' after a horrifying video of a young girl apparently being slapped, interrogated and kicked by classmates was posted on social media. The alleged attackers have been suspended.

'KwaZulu-Natal Education officials are looking at the footage, which appears to have been taken by another child. It was filmed in a hostel at the Vukuzakhe High School... KwaZulu-Natal Education Department spokesperson Muzi Mhlambi confirmed that in September pupils were charged with attacking teachers...'

The media article is here: http://nehandaradio.com/2015/02/19/video-of-school-girl-being-bullied-goes-viral/

(Video is quite distressing I think, so please use caution).

Lets stop using that stupid word and call this what it is ASSAULT! That is not bullying.

The charge should be assault. Prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
I hate the word bullying it is overused and not correctly used.

These are not bullys. They are criminal assault suspects.

How can people be so cruel, it's beyond me. It IS assault and should be treated as such. When you think of bullying you think of name calling, slagging etc.. but this goes way beyond that!! I hope they are punished for this crime.

There is something seriously wrong here, in my opinion. I'm presuming parents are paying to send their girls here? WTH? If I had a daughter, I'd pay to keep her away from this...

'Perhaps one of the most concerning issues at Vukuzakhe is the four illegal entrances into the school – two of which give the public direct access to the pupils’ living quarters.

These serve as a route for drug and alcohol smuggling as they allow dealers to come into the school undetected and for the pupils to source their desired drugs. One of the deserted kitchens has been turned into a smokers’ den with the words “Smokers Paradise” written on a dirty wall...'
