SEARCH UNDERWAY FOR TWO TEENS MISSING SINCE LAST WEEK
BAYTOWN, TX (KTRK) -- Police and volunteers are working together, actively searching for any sign of two teenagers who haven't been seen since last Wednesday. Baytown police say two friends, Jarvis Morgan, 17, and Alejandro Chavez, 18, were last seen by family on Wednesday, February 19 at 8 pm. Both have been absent from school since Wednesday. The teens were reportedly traveling in Morgan's mother's black 2013 Nissan Altima, which officers located Monday morning in the 1200 block of Missouri. Police say the two may have visited friends at an apartment on Northwood Drive. Over the weekend, officers and detectives checked the apartment complexes on Northwood Dr. and the wooded area west of it. Equusearch volunteers have joined in the search effort.

Detectives are investigating leads but they say they have not yet verified rumors of foul play.

With the families of two missing Baytown teenagers clinging to hope they will be found now eight days after their disappearance, searchers openly expressed their belief that the boys will not be found alive...

The announcement came the same afternoon Baytown Police told KHOU 11 News that they plan to search Goose Lake, a tidal inlet off the Houston Ship Channel, with sonar and a police dive team. The lake is roughly 100 yards from the apartment complex where the boys' car was found a week ago...

They disappeared last Wednesday after family members said they were meeting a girl at an apartment complex, but their car was found at a different apartment complex several miles away.

Baytown teens missing for over a week
BAYTOWN, Texas – Investigators say they are searching for a person of interest in connection with the case of two Baytown teenagers reported missing since last week.

The Baytown Police Department said it is looking for 20-year-old Brandon Alejandro Flores, of Beach City. Flores is reportedly the last person to have spoken with with teens, Jarvis Morgan and Alex Chavez.

Flores' parents reported him as a missing person to the Chambers County Sheriff's Department on Feb. 27.

:( I wonder what the trap was about. This is awful.

At a separate news conference later Friday in Baytown, the families of the teens said they knew of the 20-year-old man now charged in the deaths.

After the teens were reported missing, Flores had been in contact with their families, saying they were OK, said Mariana Castillo, Chavez's mother.

The teens had been to Flores' home in the Anahuac area, where they would get their hair cut, relatives said. They knew him through school at Robert E. Lee High, relatives said. They suspect robbery was the motive in the deaths.

A new suspect has been arrested after he allegedly confessed to the slayings of two Baytown teenagers, police said. The Chambers County Sheriff's Office plans to file a capital murder charge against Jose Valentin Lazo Saturday morning, Baytown Assistant Police Chief Roger Clifford said.

Clifford says detectives investigating the deaths of Jarvis Morgan and Alex Chavez received tips that led them to Lazo, so they picked him up from his home Friday morning and brought him back to the police station for questioning; it was during that interrogation when he allegedly admitted to killing the teens...

Meanwhile, the search continues for two other people wanted in connection to the deaths of the two teens... "We don't know exactly where they're at," said Baytown Assistant Chief Rogery Clifford. "There are a lot of rumors, a lot of tips coming in that they may have fled to this place for that."
