TX - Jenea Mungia for brutal attack on 4yo son, Harris County, 2015 *Insanity*

    That poor little boy.

No bond for mom accused in brutal attack on 4-year-old son

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas A mom has been charged in connection to a brutal attack on her 4-year-old son, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities named the woman and also released her mugshot early Friday.

Jenea Ann Mungia, 23, is charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury.

A probable cause hearing was held in the early-morning hours, but Mungia did not appear in court. She is now being held without bond.

In court, prosecutors said the young male victim suffered "multiple stab wounds to the torso, contusions to the head from blunt force trauma and his genitals were partially mutilated."

Deputies say the mother was still attacking the little boy when they arrived at the scene around 1:15 p.m. They tackled and handcuffed her.

Mother charged in brutal stabbing of 4-year-old son in NW Harris County

A mother is accused of stabbing and mutilating her 4-year-old son in northwest Harris County Thursday.

Authorities say the 23-year-old woman stabbed him all over his body inside a home on James River Lane home, then dragged him outside and continued the assault in the driveway.

Jenea Ann Mungia allegedly beat the boy with a garden tool and slammed him onto the driveway. A FedEx driver saw this and called 911. When deputies got there, Mungia was naked from the waist up. A bloody shirt could be seen in the driveway.

Dep. Thomas Gilliland says the deputies that responded were shaken up.

"In the course of events that we maintain every day, these are the types of scenes that weigh heavily on us," Gilliland says.

Jesus wept. If this mother suffered from post partum psychosis as reported it I cannot imagine what will go through her mind when she is back in her right one.

This poor child. I assume the PPS was diagnosed because of a younger child because 4 years post delivery seem a long time to still be suffering from psychosis.

I hope he makes it. Poor little guy. She has to be mentally ill, no mother who is sane could do this.

tlcya: She does not have a younger child. I am not a doctor, but I believe the diagnosis needs to change to just psychosis. She adamantly denies being involved in the attack on her son.

A Houston mother who stabbed her four-year-old son last year was found Friday not guilty by reason of insanity, a move that means she could be under court-ordered medical supervision for the rest of her life.

Experts for both prosecutors and the defense agreed that Jenea Mungia, 25, was legally insane at the time of the assault in February 2015 and did not know right from wrong...

The child fully recovered and is in the custody of his father, according to her attorney, Eric Davis, with the public defender's office...

Mungia was initially held in the Harris County jail for more than a year and charged with serious bodily injury to a child, but has been out on a $50,000 bond for about five months since she began taking medication to treat her mental illness, according to her attorney Eric Davis...

The mother had been hospitalized twice previously for mental illness, including postpartum psychosis, according to Davis.
