CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - The Pinal County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a deceased man.
The sheriff's office tells KGUN9 that on Feb. 16 at 10:49 a.m., Union Pacific Railroad employees found an injured man lying on the ground next to train tracks near Jimmie Kerr Boulevard and Casa Verde Road.
When sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene, the man had substantial facial trauma and he was air-lifted to Saint Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix.
Sheriff's deputies were notified on Feb. 19 that the man's condition was worsening and he was pronounced deceased on Feb. 21.
Union Pacific officers confirmed they inspected a train in Tucson and no subjects were discovered. It's believed that the man may have boarded or attempted to board the train in the Tucson or Picacho area.
The deceased man is described as a Caucasian or Hispanic male, 5'6" to 5'9", 144 pounds and 15 to 21 years old. He also has a "C" shaped scar on his right ankle, a two-inch scar on his left upper arm and a two-inch scar on his right lower quadrant.
He also has a chip on his front tooth.
"Deputies have been working closely with the Union Pacific Police officers and Phoenix Police Department attempting to identify this individual," Sheriff Paul Babeu said in a statement. "We are now turning to the public in hopes of being able to ensure this young man's family is notified of his unfortunate passing.
If you have any information on the deceased man, please call 602-506-2083.
